Today, companies’ arrangements and workflow are evolving and businesses are considering specific adjustments. In this era, enterprises mainly for start-ups are shifting from corporate philosophy norms and adapting the virtual workspace. Therefore, this project will consider outsourcing the entire project as opposed to in-house hiring inconsideration of cost, expertise, and flexibility as presented below.
Outsourcing involves assigning the task of building an e-commerce presence to external service providers to get the job done. Compared to in-house hiring, outsourcing is cost-efficient. Efficiency in cost is met by hiring remote workers crediting very minimum operational cost because the company does not incur office rent, expenditure on utilities and maintenance (Luadon and Traver, 2017). In addition, there is an instant delivery and high level of expertise as opposed to in-house hiring. The swift in delivery is because remote workers are specialized in the field of web designing as compared to in-house staff that often would demand training. Moreover, outsourcing would ensure the management only focuses on the core business processes and not in support tasks like supervision. Finally, outside remote workers tend to show more interest and provide higher valuations to in-house staff, making the fast-growing company have an opportunity in amping up their technological growth. However, to effectively be successful in building an e-commerce presence, estimated resource requirements in terms of human resource, skills, costs, hardware and software and other associated costs must be provided as discussed below.
Building an e-commerce presence by outsourcing the expertise requires the following; Human resource like a graphic designer to be in charge of a customized graphics, Programmer who can write the programming codes and website monitor to manage the website since successful website attracts many users. In addition, software browsers and acrobat reader are essential for reading and downloading files, like internet browser to allow the users to use the web, adding email server for email transfer. Hardware like Random Access Memory must be purchased to host a website, mail servers, and other internet services. Therefore, cost of in-house would often go to even $10,000 per month given the salaries and other inputs. Meanwhile, there are many website designing firms like Wix and MoFuse that offer s mobile website creation services for a cost of $ 3,000 making it cheaper for the start-up organization (Luadon and Traver, 2017).
The most important factors affecting mobile web design include hardware, connectivity, displays and mobile interface. Mobile hardware is smaller, therefore, data files must be designed that can be efficiently accessed. Mobile platforms are also constrained by slower connectivity thus website should be designed with effective software that ease data file download and transfer. These mobile platform constraints are the key determinants of successful mobile web designing and unsuccessful one (Luadon and Traver, 2017). Mobile hardware and software are smaller compared to the traditional desktop; therefore, there more resource constraints in storage and processing hence a fitting feature that accommodates the hardware is comfortable. This problem is taken into consideration in building mobile website design for efficiency to the customers.
In consideration to Pumbhak Raul’s opinion, I concur that outsourcing is the best choice of going through the project of building an e-commerce presence as it will cater for reducing training cost, economies of scale and reducing management overhead. Additionally, outsourcing helps the organization to focus on the core business by staying focus only on results and success but not determinants of success.
