Importance of College
Starting college or returning is essential in my work, personal life, and general success. Being in college would help me learn different skills associated with my career depending on the course and units that I learn. Besides, to be in a productive career, I need technical and academic skills, confidence and knowledge, which I will possess by being in college. College education improves my job opportunities; improve my awareness and sense of my responsibility. In my personal life, I will be able to engage in different relationships and network with friends and professionals through the college period. I will be able to understand life-based issues and acquire effective communication skills. In general, college is significant in enhancing my job satisfaction, career stability, financial gain, social life effectiveness, and success when outside the workplace, as well as living a healthy life through the acquired skills and becoming a better citizen.
Challenges of Being in College
My major challenges associated with being in college are; time management, which results in the poor management of one's lessons and research time. Tuition cost might be very high and make completing the college education difficult for college students from low economic class. Planning of the students’ acquired loans is difficult. Because of the high cost of studying in college, some students engage in many activities, therefore being vulnerable to mental health issues. Homesickness is a significant challenge for the students studying away from their home. Poor company endangers the lives of college students.
Strategies to Overcome Challenges
The strategies that I will adapt to overcome the particular challenges are; learning time management skills and the means of limiting one’s activities while in the college. The tuition fee should be set to an affordable level for students to avoid dropping out due to failure to meet the expense. Students can also be offered a piece of advice on how to use the students’ loan effectively. College students need to learn how to prioritize and schedule for their activities. Students need to learn how to network to overcome possible homesickness and stress. To overcome peer pressure, college students should learn how to be responsible.
Changes in Roles, Relationships, and Routines
The college will change my present roles, relationships, and routines in that I will learn different skills such as networking and communication skills, confidence, professional skills and planning, and management skills. The accessible support systems in personal life are friends, relatives, and co-workers. At Quincy College, the available support systems are tutors and fellow students, as well as professionals. Goals and Plans After College
Once I complete my degree, my plans and goals are getting hired in my intended career field. I have the goal of advancing my education by attaining a master’s degree. My personal goals are having a family and being happy with them.
