The Children's Assessment of Participation and Enjoyment (CAPE) is an evaluation tool that was released in 2004 and evaluates a number of participation-related factors, including its intensity, enjoyment, diversity, and locations. The legitimacy and dependability of this instrument are referred to as psychometric properties.
Spinal Cord Injury (SCI)
A spinal cord impairment known as a spinal cord injury (SCI) impairs the spinal cord's ability to operate, sometimes permanently and sometimes temporarily. SCI causes a decline in participation in everyday activities such as job duties, social activities, and recreational activities, among others, because the spinal cord has been damaged. It causes the worth of life to decrease. The actual rate of occurrence of Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) among minors in Spain is yet to be established. However, it is probable that Spain reports one of the highest occurrence of traumatic SCI worldwide.
Psychometric Properties of CAPE in Children with Spinal Cord Injury
The Psychometric properties of CAPE have been established in children with other medically important diseases in children with high function autism, cerebral palsy and generally with children who are physically disabled in different social settings. The general objective of this cross-sectional study is to study the psychometric properties of CAPE in children with an injury to the spinal cord.
Study Sample
Children with an injury to the spinal cord will be enlisted from a reintegration health center in Spain. The unique collection of youngsters in this examination will be from an education facility in the same region.
Importance of Establishing Psychometric Properties of CAPE
It is beneficial to establish the reliability and validity of CAPE, especially when done in different cultural backgrounds because it enables medical professionals to have insight into the significance, applicability, and consistency of the CAPE in various cultural settings in children with SCI. More so, by establishing the psychometric properties of the CAPE, this research will help advance medical practice with children who have had an injury of the spinal cord alongside assisting health professionals in evaluating the effect of present and novel interpolations on a child's value of life in Spain. Also, the results of the planned study will advantage the entire world in general and even increase the work on CAPE.
Methodology
The children selected for the examination will be guided through the steps in filling the CAPE questionnaire, and then they will be scored accordingly. The scores on the children's CAPE will be acquired to ascertain the examination, reliability, internal consistency, and discriminant soundness using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) software.
