BRENNAN, JOSEPH A., and Eric K. STERN. "Leading a campus through a crisis: The role of college and university presidents." Journal of Education Advancement " Marketing 2.2 (2017): 120-134.
Brennan and Erick help in bringing an understanding on how sexual assault is a problem in institutions. The topic on sexual assault as presented by these authors is difficult and overwhelming because it is a problem that seem to be on the increase and needs a swift response. From the report given by these authors they help bring to light about the sexual assaults that were reported at the University of Virginia which became a national attention. The report by these authors were covered on the article Rolling Stone magazine which gives in detail the story about the student’s rape which is on the rise. From the article, the college president identified as Teresa Sullivan also wrote a letter which she used to promise a review of the claims put forward by the University students. Based on the issues, there are various investigators who were chosen to investigate this case. There are many blames that have been directed towards the institution’s administration especially to the president of the University because she has failed to make sure that sexual misconducts are dealt with appropriately as per both education and federal law. Ms. Sullivan as presented in the article does not find it necessary to talk about the matter claiming in her letter that she has legal reason as to why she has no say about the same. Besides, in her letter she does not find it necessary to take the blame for what is taking part in her institution with the increase in sexual abuse of the students. This article is suitable for my report because it captures many issues facing education which in this case will be part of the issues to be covered in my report.
