Disparities in Cognitive Functioning between Genders
There are disparities in cognitive functioning between genders, according to study by various researchers. It is obvious that men have higher spatial aptitude when compared to women. When compared to men, women have higher linguistic strength. Women excel in reading, whilst men excel at math. Women tend to outperform men when it comes to tasks to do with spatial working memory, relational object location memory and object location. The male outperforms female on the tasks dealing with spatial navigation and mental rotation.
Genetic and Biological Differences
Genetic and biological differences in combination with culture and environment have resulted in cognitive differences among women and men. Among the biological factors, the hormones such as estrogen and testosterone play a greater role in mediating the differences.
