Personality of Dependency in My Sister

The Last Born Daughter and the Personality of Dependency

The last born in my family is a daughter, with the personality of dependency. As such she usually relies on me for most of all the decisions choices in her life aspects. Also, she likes consulting with the parents for advice on how to go about with most of her life issues. My sister may have obtained this personality as genetically from the parents. This is because my dad exhibits the same character. According to research, personality trait can be passed from one generation to the other (Tyrer et al. 721). Additionally, the fact that my sister is the last born and has spent much of her young age and youth with the parents, could have contributed to her personality according to Dependent Personality Disorder theory. My mother is a teacher at a school in the neighborhood where my sister enrolled for her lower and upper primary then proceeded to a college not far from home. She undertook her college studies while operating from home meaning she would travel to college and back home on a daily basis. This meant that she had a lot of time with the parents especially mum who influenced most of her development and guider.

The Influence of Family Environment on Dependence

Further, due to the prolonged lack of independence in her decision making, the personality of dependence grew in her. For most of her decisions, she usually relied on the parents as well as me as his elder brother. The overreliance on family members to deal with her stress, temperament, and personal development could have resulted in the condition (Williams et al. 15). In most of her life, my sister has revolved around the family members and had very little time to interact with people outside the family. There is a probability, therefore, she never developed the confidence to interact with members outside the family or share her inner secrets and concerns with people outside the family members.
