I would wish to be part of the team studying engineering at Cornell since the engineering program provided in the college has what I need to pursue my future career and aspirations. I understand that the college's undergraduate research opportunities are widely accessible and based on the topics that I have an interest in such as civil engineering and engineering physics. I am interested in being involved in programs meant to handle applied and fundamental technical problems.
I am looking for colleges where I can acquire broad-based engineering education and Cornell Engineering program will effectively enable me to achieve my goals. Through the Cornell engineering program, I know that I will be prepared for a diversity of careers in the world that is characterised by speedily changing technology. In the contemporary world, changes in technology and operations in industries require expertise that can adopt changes in engineering projects for enhanced quality and sustainability. I realise that such knowledge can be acquired by attending this college.
It is also my ambition to be an entrepreneur, creator and innovator. Therefore, I want to be part of the Cornell engineering program to be part of the project teams in the college. Besides, I will be able to gain skills that would enable me to design and construct roller coasters, dams, bridges, and buildings, as well as sound stages, which are used in rock bands. I do not like it when I see poor management of engineering projects and poorly designed plans; therefore, gaining knowledge about complex systems such as information systems, water-supply networks, and transportation, I will be in an excellent position to apply the skills to solve the real-life engineering issues. Being part of the project teams that are emphasised in Cornell Engineering College, this will enable me to work and practice with my colleagues collaboratively. Indeed, accomplishing what I am passionate about concerning engineering field is not possible by attending any college, therefore my choice of Cornell Engineering College.
I consider human health as the most vital thing in life. Through the engineering program in this college, it is possible to learn how to design water treatment and wastewater treatment systems and gain skills for conducting hazardous waste remediation projects meant to work on environmental safety. By studying in this college, I will learn technological problem-solving skills to improve how people treat their water and how wastewater is reused to prevent any wastage. We usually hear cases of some people being affected by sewerage water or sewage in areas where the treatment systems are poorly designed. Therefore I have the passion of offering support in such regions by ensuring that quality and effective wastewater treatment systems are designed and located in all areas. Being a student in the college of engineering will make me acquire the knowledge and tools needed in evaluating and approving the appropriate wastewater and water treatment systems.
While in high school I was one of the team members involved in assessing the functionality of the water system in the school before the summer season. I would conduct more research by interviewing my relatives and professionals in the engineering field to understand what is expected in the poorly managed system and this helped me and my team members to identify whenever the water system had some problems; hence recommending for a practical solution. In case I am involved in a team that will be required to design any transportation system, I will apply the knowledge and skills gained from the college of engineering in ensuring the effectiveness of the particular project. Therefore, studying in Cornell Engineering College will equip me with advanced knowledge on how to handle such issues in the future and once I enter in the engineering field as a professional.
I like dealing with mathematical issues. In high school, I took four units of mathematics including one calculus. I also took two units in physics and one unit in chemistry. Hence, I think that I qualify to study in the engineering college.
