High school pupils and their health challenges
High school pupils are confronted with severe health challenges that they do not comprehend. It is a well-known reality that most adolescents are unaware of the concerns that can wreck their life due to their youth or a possible lack of comprehension.
The consequences of lack of understanding about sex
One of the most serious issues that teens confront in high schools is a lack of understanding about the potential consequences of sex. When it comes to their daily lives, most adolescents in high school are led by hormones, and as a result, they make bad mistakes. As a result, there are many situations of high school kids who are unaware of what they are doing when it comes to sexual difficulties. This results in unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted infections, and other negative issues which can go as far as a murder in extreme cases (Dak et al., 2011). Teenagers in high school often end up using drugs due to the lack of knowledge on the probable effects of the addiction. However, some of these issues lead to adverse problems which include suicide, murder, and severe health effects.
Patient confidentiality and its implications
In many cases, nurses are supposed to ensure that the information given to them by their patients remains confidential. This applies to both adults and young teenagers (Parker, 2003). Thus, nurses have to stay silent when it comes to the problems they have been told by their underage patients. Hence, the laws which govern patient confidentiality can end up affecting the youngsters and nurses negatively as even the harmful information is required to be kept confidential.
The benefits of privacy laws
Privacy laws benefit a student when it comes to drug abuse, unwanted pregnancies, and many other negative issues which can lead to their parents’ losing confidence in the adolescents. It is a well-known fact that parents or guardians overreact when it comes to an issue that affects teenagers they are responsible for. Therefore, privacy laws work to the advantage of the student or teenager in this kind of cases. Schools also benefit from privacy laws when it comes to dealing with illegal or probably damaging issues. Sometimes, the institution, particularly the school, is condemned and affected by the negative which results from issues facing students. Hence, privacy laws help the school to avoid some of the allegations which come up in such cases.
Encouraging students to address their problems
In order to ensure that students help the healthcare sector in their schools to reduce problems, it would be advisable to encourage them to form small groups where they can talk, share, discuss, and try to solve the issues or problems facing them as youngsters. This would end up reducing the impact of the issues which face the youngsters as they would end up discovering that the problems they face are more common than they thought (Eaton, 2008). More so, it would be a good idea for the school students to approach and explain a problem to their parents, teachers or guardians early before the issue will boil over. This is due to the fact that many adolescents are afraid to share their problems with parents or guardians since they consider such actions as their weaknesses. Thus, if high school students are convinced they are not weak for sharing their problems, they would share more with adults. This would result in a reduced number of diverse cases due to the early detection of the problem.
