Ethics of Sustainability

Regarding how people live in society, the current leadership has a big part to play.

The public is struggling to find solutions to these issues, which is causing poverty and deadly diseases to spread in some areas. The adoption of better living standards in society will result from this set of people putting their ethical practices into effect. For instance, the public will face fewer diseases and a lower burden ratio as compared to the risks that are having an impact on their life.

The public has a low sustainability ration due to the existence of terrorism, floods, refugee crisis, and the rising sea levels, which have a direct impact on food production (agriculture). These practices are proving complicated to handle due to the model of leadership and the type of leaders who are failing to offer solutions. The public has often resorted to foreign aid to sustain their way of life in society. In the long run, the masses start the practice of immoral acts that have a long-term effect on their health. On the contrary, these nations have come up creating unions that will specialize in providing a solution to the various problems in the society. Further delays in the provision of a solution will worsen the matter and have the death rate increasing. Despite the multiple issues that are affecting development and sustainability in the society, nations are forming unions that will address the problem and help the community live a sustainable life.

Ethics

The concept of ethics involves practices concerning a particular group of people and executions of various activities that hardly create an inconvenience to another person. Similarly, ethics may also refer to the correct rules of conduct that an individual applies in a research program. According to Geach and Holowka (242), they are considered to be a set of moral principles that govern an individual in conducting certain activities. In the business industry, ethics, audit should help in the act of identifying situations where existing policies and control systems cause ethical traps. The primary goal of an ethics audit is to determine whether people take their activities seriously and make discoveries where unethical conducts occur. The concept of ethics may also involve an analysis of the type of response that an individual may give with regards to the impact of an activity in his or her life. An adverse feedback/reaction from the activity may indicate that unethical practices were executed thus affecting their mode of life in society.

Sustainability

The concept of sustainability refers to the process of meeting human needs in a socially-just manner without inappropriately compromising conservation. While preservation and sustainability encompass distinct information and apprehensions, they are comparable to being profoundly concerned for our connection with the natural surroundings (Geach and Holowka, 251). Concerning the ethical aspects, sustainability has the aim of understanding what people believe, how, and why they behave in a particular manner. The context of sustainability offers an option in a particular direction that an individual should implement a given activity. For example, an individual may provide instruction on the most appropriate way of utilizing a particular commodity. An individual may also raise an inquiry as to why we need to recycle certain commodities that have been disposed off. Therefore, the primary target of sustainability is to focus on the future outcomes after the implementation of given activity. The public needs to have an efficient way of life and productive labor that will have an influence on the commodities that will be consumed in the long run.

Living sustainability requires appeals to ethics because the current generation has different targets on the way they want to live and the various activities that they are implementing in the society.

The factor of interdependence can be used to demonstrate the issues of sustainability as they are seeking colonies from fragile undersea regions. These activities were being executed in the 16th century, creating an opportunity for the nation to have financial support for future generations. The majority of the collected material includes foodstuffs and labor that would work in the plantations. It is further considered as a factor that led to the attainment of industrialization in these locations. An ethical perspective can be derived from the creation of job opportunities in these locations with the masses offered employment in the plantations under different capacities (Geach and Holowka, 157).

Additionally, policies and regulations were also formulated in this region, providing guidance on the model of conduct and the execution of certain activities. In case of initiating any changes in the application of particular activities, there was a channel of communication that the information could be passed and the attainment of feedback. In the ancient days, there were limited instances of violating the channel of communication as the public had to respect the chain of command. It further demonstrates the level of ethics that was being observed by the public. The future of the economy was built on the principle of resilience which is very different from that ubiquitous in the economic world system. Current managers accept the concept of reduced productivity and efficiency in exchange for the long-term vitality of the resources’ systems on which it depends.

The issues of sustainability in an area can be attained by analyzing the policy agendas across academia, government, and industry.

However, the interrelations never give consistent results as a particular variable provides a different input in the process of sustainability. On the contrary, the public also needs to focus on the preservation of the ecosystem. An ecosystem is referred to as a community of living organisms in conjunction with the non-living components of their environment. Maintenance of the environment can be considered as an ethical impact on the aspect of sustainability. Similarly, the act of removal and dispensation of non-reformative raw resources are often exhaustive energy undertakings encompassing large-scale interferences in bionetworks and the water steadiness and result in air, soil, and water pollution. The removal and manufacture of renewable properties often involve widespread consumption of energy, materials, chemicals, and in some instances, water. A combination of all these elements translates into toxic waste. Greenfield acreage is often converted to create arable property, and in some cases, the entire ecosystems are demolished in the progression.

The existence of inadequate sanitation in an area leads to instances of contracting diseases as there is no proper way of waste disposal. The public will also have no space for cultivation thus no food to sustain their way of life. These problems are considered urgent, and no organization is coming up to offer solutions to the situation. In case of a prolonged situation, public moves to other places with the aim of attaining better facilities to support their lives. The EU is discussing the issue of the refugee crisis that is affecting the economy of these countries. Some of the affected nations are sidelining relatively enormous sums of money to support the sharply growing number of immigrants. In the long run, it will have an impact on the country’s sustainability with little income injected into innovation and other business sectors. Large-scale problems are hardly attained as these committees do not have the right procedure that will lead to the answers (Geach and Holowka, 95).

On the other hand, the interested parties are finding it challenging to formulate solutions to problems like climate change and the refugee crisis.

However, there is a need for a more nimble approach to help correct the problem. According to Manning and Reinecke (7), the implementation of small wins can be considered as an alternative measure that will tackle the large scale problems in society. The use of small wins assists in the attainment of better ways of life as they focus on smaller-scale independent projects that have measurable objectives. For example, a company may focus on the increase of energy and reduce the level of waste that is being dumped. In the long run, the community will have limited chance of spending to attain an alternative source of energy. Therefore, an instance of increased waste disposal in an area will have an impact on the nature of the environment and the model of life that the regions are to experience. Nevertheless, these small wins may not offer an instant solution to the big problems, but have a tangible positive outcome in line with long-term goals (Manning and Reinecke, 26).

The management of such problems is often based on a step by step process, providing a guideline in the most suitable approach for initiating a solution. The application of a wholesome approach will offer a difficulty in registering the desirable solution to the problem forcing the region to have enormous misunderstandings. According to the significant problem that is affecting the activities being held in various parts of the country, the use of a modular approach will offer a solution to the problem (Manning and Reinecke, 37). Despite the fact that the modular approach will not provide a solution to the big problems like thru refugee, crisis and climate change, they are more practical compared to the grand solutions and more scalable than the small wins.

In conclusion, the factor of ethics has a direct impact on the issue of sustainability in society.

However, the failure to find a solution to a small problem will initiate problems of hardship in the region, forcing people to seek refuge in better environments. Therefore, there is a need for the public to be more conscious of the activities that they do as they have a direct impact on the future generation. In case of any alterations or persistence of the problem, a step by step approach should be used to find a solution that will eradicate the problem. The public needs to make few adjustments in their daily errands to attain sustainability and also reduce the ecological footprints on the globe. There is no need to blame the governments and other corporations when they are created to serve individuals. Therefore, there is a need to find the most appropriate approach that will lead to the attainment of sustainability in society.
