Difference Between American and European Parties

In the wake of the 21st century, the role of political parties has risen to be the center of attraction in the field of governance. The world has witnessed the massive expansion and increase in the number of parties in every country after the end of the First and the Second World War. Most people across the world have not taken any interest to examine the difference between these parties. This paper examines in details how the American parties different from their European counterparts.

Comparison of European and American Parties

There is a vast difference between the American and the European parties. To kick start off most of the European nations, their parties majorly comprise of more than three parties advancing the argument that they are conservatism in nature. In the United States, the parties are made of only two major parties that is the Republican and Democrat.

The next significant difference, European parties, are much of liberal in which every state is a welfare state compared to the American one which are founded on the culture, education, history and mentality. The next difference is whereby there is no center parties which make one to be positioned politically between the Democrats and the Republicans in the United States. In most of the European countries for example in Britain, there is the Liberal Democrat Party that is ideologically between the Labour and Conservative parties (Wilson, John J Dilulio, Bose, \ Levendusky, 2016). In the United States, it is not easy to lure voters to vote against the economic interest of the country as well as the aspects of religion and race. In most of the European countries factors such as religion, economics, and race play a small significant when it comes to party role in voting.

The next difference is that in the United States the parties are required to seek votes in all the states compared to the European countries, for example, Britain the parties can file candidates in specific areas. To add on, another fundamental difference in the American parties is where race plays a significant role in the parties. Most of the parties on rare occasion can elect a non-white president despite the fact that the first black American president was selected in the US. In European countries, race does affect parties as most of the people are treated better, and it is not a problem to them. In the United States, the parties have the wide-scale congress after every four years to elect their desired candidate for general presidential election whereby ostensibly play a leading role for the candidates. On the other hand, most of the parties conduct their annual conference to discuss on the policy to be adopted by the party and do not appoint party leaders.

Another critical difference is whereby in most of the European countries regularly changing the symbols of the parties in which the people do not have the know-how what they mean. On the other hand in American, the symbols of the parties have never been changed since their formation (Wilson, John J Dilulio, Bose, \ Levendusky, 2016).

Conclusion

In summary, there are much different that are portrayed by the American parties and those of the European nations. These parties difference between the two continents have been the driving forces towards the achievement of world superiority in areas such as economic and warfare. Some of the critical difference as discuss comprise of difference in parties symbols, liberal factors among other various aspects.
