For writing project 3 I will research on the problem of water shortage in cities resulting from the population increase and ravaging droughts by use of Cape Town as an example. Currently, there are signs of declining levels of water in city's biggest dam, Theewaterskloof. In efforts to avert the looming crisis, the city's authorities are educating people on how to avoid water shortage and exploration of other water sources.

` I selected the image from the newspaper article that was describing the various interventions that Cape Town is using to address its water problem. It illustrates the crisis the city is facing and measures that are being used which are unimaginable within other towns that have got an abundance of water. From the image, I will be able to know the different mitigation measures and discuss the impacts of each of them.

I located the image from a tourism journal describing how the water shortage in the city has affected the sector. The image is significant to the research by providing evidence on how if the problem cannot be solved will defiantly cripple the economy of this great city. At the same time, the large number of people represented in the image queuing for water shows it has become a scarce commodity in the town. It implies that the residents of Cape Town now spend a considerable amount of their time searching for water instead of being engaged in other economic activities.

I located this image from a video that analyses the causes of Cape Town’s water crisis. The image significance to the research will be to show that they were signs indicative of the looming crisis. From the video, I will be able to analyze the multiple views by different stakeholders interviewed there on how the problem could have been solved. On the other hand, the authorities were provided with warning and failure to make early interventions caused the problem.
