The study claims that leadership and management practice in the food and beverage industry have led to increased performance in restaurant businesses in Binondo, Philippines. Some of the leadership and management practices like the creation of commercial awareness, customer service, interpersonal skills, and organization skills are major indicators of performance in this sector as seen in Appendix 1. These practices of leadership and management are correlated and are the paradigm of success for Filipino-Chinese entrepreneurs.
Consequently, the creation of Commercial Awareness has promoted and consequently grew the sales volume for the restaurants. Commercial Awareness involves continuous advertising and sales promotion of the best quality services in Binondo restaurants. The businesses are able to identify dynamics in the macro and microenvironment by evaluating seasonal changes, pricing, costs of production, as well as the number of sales in a particular period. Also, the Customer Service is extremely efficient with flexibility being the main tag, as restaurant employees are friendly, courteous, and maintain cleanliness.
Furthermore, leaders and managers have been able to instill interpersonal skills by facilitating communication at all hierarchical levels as seen in Appendix 1. Employees are well mannered and eloquent thus a response to customer needs is easier and faster. On the other hand, organizational skills of inspiration, problem solving and coordination through teams have been an effective force for market performance. Employee issues are properly handled for them to provide quality services.
Therefore, the application of the above practices will lead to further improvement and growth of the food and beverage industry. These variables of leadership and management prove that their effectiveness is essential for business growth and performance.
