The Importance of Affirmative Action

The assertion that all affirmative action policies foster unfair reverse discrimination is false, in my opinion. To start, discrimination, unlike affirmative action, frequently includes prejudice and stereotypes of specific populations. Discrimination is associated negatively in this way. The perpetrators of discrimination are also motivated by hatred and a sense of dominance and superiority over minorities.

A Remedy for Historical Injustices

Affirmative action laws, on the other hand, represent human attempts to find peaceful remedies to historical injustices. Additionally, affirmative action policies are based on a sincere need and desire to right serious wrongs from the past and have good intentions. Prior to now, job hiring was often in favor of white males. Affirmative action policies serve to correct such past injustices in the workplace by attaching some preferential consideration and treatment to the underprivileged groups, allowing the workplace to experience a certain degree of inclusiveness that echoes the diversity of the population at large.

Achieving Diversity and Inclusiveness

Recruiting different employees and mentoring for diversity as the forms of affirmative action in the business world escape the charge of creating unjust reverse discrimination. The reason for such a situation is the fact that these forms of affirmative action uphold diversity and inclusiveness, as dictated by business ethics (Thiroux & Krasemann, 2014). This dedication is achieved by changing the manner in which companies hire and recruit personnel. For instance, a firm seeking to recruit more women would send announcements of employment opportunities to women's organizations. Similarly, an organization seeking to bring on board more minority applicants will employ the same approach to reach out to the group. In such programs, the company uses minimum job requirements for the purpose of creating a pool of eligible applicants, thus consideration is given to members of the affected group.
