Child Abuse
Child abuse is any maltreatment of a child, whether by an adult or a child, that results in noticeable harm to the child. It can be sexual, emotional, or physical, but it can also happen frequently when there is a lack of affection, care, or concern. We are aware that neglect, in whatever form, can be just as harmful to a child as bodily abuse. However, the US government established a federal agency known as the DSS to handle child abuse cases and check up on children who had been harmed as well as those who had moved to new foster homes.
Child Abuse by New Adoptive Parents
In this instance, the foster kid moved in with the Joneses because his biological parents had abused him. However, the child still experienced abuse from his new adoptive parents and made efforts to report the issue to his social worker. The social worker, who is a government agent supposed to protect such children from any form of abuse, saw this as a form of exaggeration and wholly ignored the claims. The child on seeing that the condition was yet to find a remedy informed his teacher, who went on to report to the same social worker. The social worker yet again dismissed the claims and forfeited his responsibility to investigate the issue or question the foster parents about this development. The child can therefore comfortably hold the DSS liable for neglecting their duties and failing to guard him against the beatings that he got from his foster parents.
Factors in Identifying Child Abuse
Many factors help identify a child abuse scenario, but there are also factors that do not necessarily reflect the case of ongoing abuse. Elements such as being punished for misconduct, the child not being provided with everything that he requires (as this may be due to financial inability), the child's activities being monitored or limited, and many such factors. Investigations should be carried out to determine abuse cases.
