Customers are more interested in what a firm stands for than what they do. Business organizations must therefore concentrate on clients who share their values rather than the things they make. Sinek also points out that the main goal of firms is not to business with people who require what they have but to engage with people who believe in what they believe. However, he points out that the law of diffusion of innovation plays a critical role in ensuring the masses are convinced and adopts the new innovations being brought by firms. In fact, he explains that a good percentage world population is composed of innovators and adopters.

The law of diffusion of innovation ensures that there is mass-market acceptance of any business idea. Moreover, he differentiate people in authority or power and those who lead. According to Sinek, there is a big difference between leaders and those who lead. Unlike leaders who have power and authority within their reach, those who lead always inspire us. Whether companies, organizations, or individuals, those who lead are always followed by the masses because of their inspirations, beliefs, and purpose.

How the Topic Relates to Entrepreneurship

Entrepreneurs spend a significant part of their business development stage coming with business ideas that can be successful. In entrepreneurship, we are told that being innovative is the key. Although Sinek acknowledges innovation and illustrates the role of law of diffusion of innovation on ensuring success of new business ideas, he emphasizes on the importance of the golden rule. According to him, business must first answer the questions why, how, and what before testing their business ideas. As we learn on reasons of business successes and failures, we can connect with the examples where the law of diffusion of innovation fails to operate.

Moreover, the explanation on how those who lead motivate and inspire their followers relates to the corporate social responsibility of business firms. All business organizations need to share with the customers their ideas on why they produce their products. Moreover, the talk points out different types of leadership styles and qualities of good leaders.

By describing leaders as those who have power and authority, it explains authoritative kind of leadership. Those who lead like Martin Luther King shared their ideas and dreams with their followers and not their plans. It is clear that those who lead aim to inspire the subjects. Application in My Career

As I plan to start my career journey as a health manager, I have to recognize the fact that health care management requires both leadership skills and innovative ideas. Currently, there is a challenge when it comes to health care management and financing due to the rising population that require medical attention. With the scarce resources and high cost of health financing, addressing all health needs and management the health related resources becomes a challenge.

The current economic performance in various countries call for the need to adopt innovation in the area of health care management. In fact, coming up with cost effective and sustainable innovations in the health care is more desired by different countries. As a health manager, the concepts of the golden rule of why, how, and what will be essential in coming up with ideas that tend to address the beliefs of f health services consumers’. My main interest is to apply the concept of lean manufacturing in the provision of health care services.

I believe that lean concept can be applied in health management to come up with lean healthcare and innovation. Thus, it will help to address the challenges of access to safe and quality health care services. Just like lean manufacturing, lean concept can help in high volumes of health care services are produced at low cost. Based on the emerging trends on the global health related innovations, I would find it interesting to address the society beliefs and needs for safe care through the use of the law of diffusion of innovation. Moreover, areas of technological innovation on traditional health care delivery models and health systems advocacy will be best addressed using the golden rule.

As a healthcare manager, I will also have to portray leadership skills in my career journey. Going by Sinek’s distinction of leaders and those who lead, I would always want to portray characters of those who lead by constantly sharing ideas and motivating others. I will apply the leadership traits by sharing ideas on the areas of access to safe and quality care, data analytics, patient experience, affordable care models.
