The Importance of Water Conservation and Sustainability
The topic I talked about was water, and it was based on the interview I conducted in accordance with topic six's instructions. The interviewee raised the issue of water conservation and sustainability, and this paper discusses possible answers.
Solar-Powered Water Purifiers as a Solution
Utilizing solar-powered water purifiers is one of the possible alternatives. The difficulty of getting to clean water is a problem in hot climates. By using zinc oxide and titanium oxide, two materials that purify the water and even make it appropriate for drinking when maintained in objects that expose them to ultraviolet rays, this problem is resolved. This helps the 1.1 billion individuals who suffer accessing water in the hot regions (Shiva and Vandana, 345).
Monitoring of Leakages
Second, there is the solution of monitoring of leakages. Germany Usage Company discovered that a lot of water is wasted due to leakages of the transporting pipes which adds up to a third of the total water consumed. The company, therefore, developed software that monitors the water pipes and cases where the leakages are seen data is sent immediately to ensure that water is saved. The company added that notably, most of the water is wasted along the way before reaching home and the only way to ensure wastage is reduced, is by monitoring the pipes since they always break due to pressure.
Carbon Dioxide Cleaning
Apart from that, there is the solution of carbon dioxide cleaning. As we know, industries use a lot of water in cooling machines and cleaning of agents. Surprisingly, these industries use about 40,000 gallons each year. This is sad because that amount of water is capable of providing water to communities for long periods of time. With the development of technology, it is possible to solve this problem and sustain water. Carbon dioxide which is in solid form and well-integrated ice particles could be used in cleaning the surfaces instead of using water. The carbon dioxide to be used is produced by other companies as a waste product which ensures that even climate change is controlled. The method therefore is useful since it is sustaining water and taking care of the environment which means it is solving two problems at the same time.
Life Saver Bottles
Moreover, there is the solution of life saver bottles. This was invented after the tsunami that hit Asia. At that time, clean water had to be provided to the people affected since the flooded water was too dirty for consumption. It is when the lifesaver bottles were introduced. These bottles ensure that the water is sucked and cleaned to ensure that all the viruses in there are killed. This means that the flooded water could, therefore, be stored and using the bottles, used in the drier periods of the hot areas.
Eco-Friendly Shower System
Bathing with ultra-efficiency is the other solution to the water problem that we are currently experiencing. One of the people interested in water conservation and sustainability ways got interested in the amount of water wasted after people get into showers and pour a lot of water as they wait for it to get hot. So to ensure that less or no water is wasted in that, there is the introduction of eco-friendly shower system which ensures that the water gets hot in less than 30 seconds to ensure that water wasted each morning in the world is reduced.
Conclusion
In conclusion, it is clear that water has been wasted across the globe has led to serious issues. However, if the discussed solutions are implemented by the responsible groups, the water problem will be efficiently solved.
