Ullman’s Essential Components of Lesson Planning

I agree with the Ullman's essential components of lesson planning due to some reasons. For instance, as far as the pedagogical approach is concerned, the effectiveness of the teaching and learning processes largely depends on lesson planning. Thus, teachers must develop the most exciting lesson plans to arouse and sustain the interest of the learners during the entire learning process (Ullman).

The participation of the students in the learning process by way of asking questions and seeking clarifications are significant in building a new set of skills and knowledge. The practical teaching pedagogy should also take into consideration the need to spell out the expectations of such processes to assist the learners in knowing the expectations of the learning process (Ullman). Additionally, pushing the students to think further and giving them time to reflect on what they have learned are some of the effective teaching strategies that will enable the students to gain new skills and knowledge effectively. However, Ullman misses some key ingredient in establishing a useful learning experience for the students. For instance, Ullman did not mention anything to do with the establishment of a positive student-teacher relationship and a conducive classroom environment which is critical as far as the learning processes are concerned.

Question 2: Students and Teaching Process

Students need to be provided with sufficient time to apply their knowledge and skills in relating learning objectives with real-life experience using different techniques. Such techniques include asking probing questions and linking the new concepts with what the students know to enable them to think through the learning objectives and predict expected outcomes. On the other hand, reflection provides a necessary bridge in the learning process (Ullman). The teachers can leverage different strategies, including encouraging the students to report orally in front of other learners as a proof that learning took place.
