Traditional Training vs Contemporary Training
Traditional training entails a series of teachings, both theory and practical, where the trainer and the trainees enjoy personal touch or the physical presence of each other. On the other hand, contemporary training is an evolutionary way of teaching or coaching which makes good use of the digital resources such as the internet and computer programs to offset distance between the trainer and the trainee as a barrier (Walsh & King, 2006).
Advantages of Classroom Setting
Classroom setting enabled me to easily interact with my fellow students both formally and informally. Furthermore, I had freedom of confidential interaction in a classroom setting. The response of a teacher to my concerns as a student were instant and specific during classroom sessions. The sophistication and protocols of contemporary training such as login in to a program such as skype or hangouts and having internet would have made my training experience different. Failure of network occasionally would have limited most of my sessions to specific areas and times. I would however not be limited to my classmates only but also I would have had sessions, though limiting, with other colleagues globally.
Benefits of Traditional Training
What I learnt as a trainee was that in traditional sessions everything is real and practical. The trainer is able demonstrate their concepts and respond to emerging questions instantly. However, a balance should be struck between contemporary trainings and traditional training. Two tips for my classmates are: embracing the technological innovations to our classroom studies is important however, they should not take the place of personal touch. Strive to have them complement each other.
