The Student Service Learning Program of Save the Children

Save the Children is a non-governmental organization committed to ensuring equality for children irrespective of their race, gender, tribe physical or mental disability in the acquisition of quality healthcare services, education and providing equal opportunity for them to develop skills through student service learner program. The organization is focused on advocating the rights of children with emphasis on quality education that enhances child's development through provision of student service learner program. The organization, therefore, sensitizes the communities on the significance of ensuring every child gets an opportunity to study without discrimination. The student service learner program has not only contributed to personal development but has also provided the student with a chance to apply the knowledge studied in class to solve the challenges their community is facing (Wilhelm et al., 2014).

Future Vision

The organization's vision is to provide equal opportunities to all children to quality education, provide a student who is competent with necessary skills to solve daily challenges. To achieve this vision, the organization has encouraged the government to train more skilled teachers to provide education to children with disabilities as well to purchase necessary instruments required in the teaching process. Also, the organization has liaised with different institutions which provide practical experience to students to equip them with more skills. The competencies acquired through this program, in turn, promotes the protection of children rights since the community gets informed of its importance (King, 2017).

Challenges

The student service learner program and the whole process of education face the challenge of the inadequate instrument required during teaching process this still limits the number of students to be taught making others unable to acquire studies. Some services require a fee which sometimes is expensive for the organization to pay in the provision of quality education to students in this process the organization becomes unable to provide service to a large number of the student; as a result, still few students get a quality education. The government is reluctant to enact laws that ensure equity and equality in the provision of services to children without any form of discrimination; as a result, few children end up benefiting from certain services. The majority of communities are not informed of the rights of children; as a result, some children are neglected. The above challenges can be solved by setting some amount aside to purchase enough learning instruments for students to use. Reducing the amount of fee for some services makes it accessible for the majority of students. Also encouraging the government to enact laws that ensure equity and equality for all children to acquire quality education and enlightening the community on the right of every child helps in achieving the organization's vision (Campbell " Monk, 2015).

Improvements

The organization should involve the government and the community when planning and carry out its activities to acquire maximum cooperation and to prevent any resistance that may occur for it to achieve its goals. The students should do their student service learning program within their communities for the community to see its benefit. The program helps the student apply the knowledge learned in class and help solve the challenges their communities face on a daily basis, this improves the creativity of student and in the process, they may use their knowledge to improve service delivery of the organization (Ford " Vignare, 2015).

Conclusion

Save the Children is an organization developed to ensure the rights of children are protected and that every child gets the quality education and skills that make him/her self-sufficient through student service learner program.
