The author states that provision of additional training about violence prevention for students as well as teachers and administrators can contribute the eradication of bullying acts. However, he notes that lack of adequate equipment in addition to disregard of obvious signs and acts of bullying contributes to the practice of bullying in schools. The authors claim that consideration of the student’s perspective on bullying and their involvement in dealing with bullying can be effective in reducing the occurrence of bullying problem in schools. According to the authors, student problem solving along with their leadership can promote anti-bullying programs. Equally, the authors note that bullying is rampant in schools because the perception of adults and students about the causes and occurrence of bullying varies significantly. According to them, the involvement of students in addressing this problem is critical as they are the ones who interact with the bullies in many situations. They also claim that “peer group power” can help combat the bullying problem in schools because it involves the involvement of the bystanders in countering the experienced bullying behaviors. According to the authors, the involvement of students can inform the authorities about the causes and the occurrence of bullying besides participating directly in discouraging the practice among students.

The author states that empowering students through introduction of specific interpersonal skills aimed at addressing bullying situations can help students deal with bullying as well as identify types of bullying. This article also notes that promotion of empathy in school environment is critical in reducing the occurrence of bullying in schools. In addition to the adoption of effective bullying programs by school systems, the authors of this study notes that promotion of psychosocial development can contribute to the management of the bullying problem in schools. However, the authors assert that schools should employ programs based on the age of students since the effectiveness of the intervention programs differs with the age of students.
