The Effectiveness of Presentations

Presentations delivered at Bus Com. Company are clear and logical and ideas adhere to the topic being presented. The presenter ensures that he or she maintains eye contact with the audience (Bradbury, 2006). Presentations are also informative and provocative, which creates the opportunity for a question and answer session. The presenter gives the audience a chance to offer their thoughts on the topic and pose questions therefore making presentations interactive. Presentations points have a proper flow so that the audience is able to follow from the first point to the last. PowerPoint presentations incorporate colorful visuals that create emphasis (Bradbury, 2006). Finally, presentations include acknowledgements of individuals who contributed relevant ideas to the making of the final product.

Effectiveness of presentations

Presentations delivered as Bus Com. Company are effective because they are entertaining especially when delivered by a humorous individual. The audience is able to recall at least 3 points a week after the presentation, which means that the presenter was able to get through to the audience.

PowerPoint presentations are effective because their main points are delivered first. Every point has a captivating heading and presentations only include 3 to 4 main points because offering more than four ideas makes the presentation lengthy and the audience might lose concentration (Bradbury, 2006). The visuals are regulated so that they do not become too many and distract the audience from what the presenter is communicating.

The presenter uses correct voice intonation to establish command and authority over the audience. Furthermore, the presenter is audible enough and portrays the right body gestures. Words are communicated in a slow and clear manner so that the audience is able to capture every word.

Quality of Presentations Produced by Management and Those Produced by Frontline Workers

Managers have gained more experience in presentation delivery than frontline workers thus are able to deliver more quality presentations. Additionally, management presentations may be more precise than frontline employee presentations. Employees may be inexperienced therefore offer too much information than what is required to prove their knowledge ability. Managers are more confident than employees hence their presentations incorporate the right intonations, gestures and audibility. Some frontline workers may too nervous when giving presentations that they fail to be audible enough, may talk too quickly, fail to create emphasis where necessary or fear making eye contact with the audience. Frontline workers may feel the need to create a friendly and comfortable environment around their colleagues during presentations thus they may incorporate jokes to entertain the audience. Sometimes such anecdotes may be too much such that the audience’ attention is deviated from the objective of the presentation.

Reasons for Differences in Presentations

Managers have been exposed to many meetings involving presentation delivery than employees thus have more experience. Others have delivered many presentations during their time in management. Moreover, managers may be offered more training opportunities than employees, which include presentation skills therefore are able to deliver better quality presentations than frontline workers (Bradbury, 2006).

Another reason may be that the management has a more positive perspective of the workplace than workers hence displays a deeper sense of belonging. Therefore presentations offered by the management are more in line with the company’s objectives than presentations offered by frontline workers.
