Stage Management Techniques
Stage management techniques incorporate a variety of practices for effective theatrical productions. Stage management involves overseeing the rehearsal process and coordination of communication among personnel and production teams. Effective stage management requires a deep understanding of various aspects of production and requires organizational support to support smoothness of management activities and their efficiency. Depending on the size of the production, the organization producing a film can have a single stage manager for a small set or a team of stage managers with a production stage manager being the head of the team and assistants working close to ensure the effectiveness of the production. Stage managers are also an important part of theatrical plays aside motion picture recording.
The Role of a Stage Manager
A stage manager needs to be an expert who is effective in their position in her show to ensure that the audience gets the necessary highlights associated with a film or other production. The manager needs to ensure that the actors use the stage effectively to be able to achieve the intended visual cues of the show. The stage manager needs to be able to communicate effectively with the team, outline their roles and ensure they understand their role so that the production is delivered effectively and seamlessly with all desired effects integrated.
Multi-tasking and Pre-Show Checks
The stage manager needs to be able to multitask which will help keep note of and track various elements required to be in play for successful delivery. They should also carry out pre-show checks to prevent undesired events from occurring and having backup measures which can be easily implemented to offer almost seamless continuity to a production. The stage manager should also teach actors how to act in times of possible mishaps during production and to spark creativity to handle the issue without the audience being aware. Effective stage management is a multistep process that requires effective communication between team members.
