The method of acquiring information is referred to as education. The research and distribution of capital and commerce in society is referred to as economics. As a result, socioeconomic status can be described as a social ranking based on incomes, schooling, and occupation. This paper would discuss the relationship between schooling and socioeconomic status, as well as how one can affect the other.

Educational Disparities Based on Socioeconomic Status


Education and social class are intertwined in the way that their omission influences the other. Individuals' socioeconomic status can be classified into three groups based on their income: high-class status, middle-class status, and low-class status (Ruhm, 2007). High-class status constitutes those people who earn hefty salaries and have well-established families. Such people are highly respected in society because they involve themselves in various community programs such as development plans and fundraising. The middle class consists of families which can only provide the basic needs for themselves only. The low-class consists of the less fortunate people who barely afford the basic needs.

The Impact of Socioeconomic Status on Student Success


Students from affluent families and wealthy backgrounds will have everything at hand to enable them to study comfortably. They will have money to purchase research tools such as books and modern technology gadgets, including laptops, smartphones, and other Internet accessing devices (Frederick A Lazin, 2010). This will act as motivation and encouragement for such students to study more seriously. They will have a lot of information on their devices that will aid them in their academic work. Eventually, such students are likely to pass their examinations and make it to big careers and ultimately making a high socioeconomic status in the community.In a more sophisticated manner, the less fortunate in society are more disadvantaged. The fact that they lack the basic study tools, students from this status will toil and moil in vain to get adequate knowledge. They also attend third world schools where most of the academic staff are unqualified, thus lowering the probability of good performance (Grace Kao, 2013). Since most of these students come from families where even a meal is difficult to afford, they will end up skipping some classes. Additionally, the parents of such students are casual laborers, or if they work in urban centers, they work as housewives or house boys where they are paid very low wages to sustain their families. The result is that such students will end up performing poorly in class, consequently joining a low-class socioeconomic status after school. However, some students from poor backgrounds succeed in education through struggle and hard work, eventually making it to good careers and joining the high-class status in society.

The Impact of Socioeconomic Status on Access to Quality Education


The socioeconomic status will sharpen, lighten, or darken the education path depending on the income of a family. Those who have a high income will afford to take their children to expensive schools where they will get quality education. On the other hand, families who come from a poor background in society will only depend on government-sponsored schools which are underfunded and with very few teachers. Furthermore, some of the teachers may be underqualified, therefore offering uncompetitive education. The cycle of socioeconomic status will continue in society, whereby students who attend big schools will end up in high-class socioeconomic status while those who attend government schools will end up joining the middle-class status and the low-class socioeconomic status.

The Consequences of Socioeconomic Status on Student Outcomes


Students from low backgrounds are likely to drop out of schools due to a lack of school fees and hence shuttle their dreams of joining universities. The resultant early school dropout is a lack of good and permanent jobs. Finally, such individuals will end up belonging to the less fortunate class in society. Those from well-established backgrounds will go all the way to university, soaring to greater heights and landing their dream careers, eventually joining the high-class status in the community.

The Influence of Socioeconomic Status on Parent-Child Relationships


Parent-child relationships in low background families are poorly developed (Blatt, 2010). This is because such parents will spend most of their time working to get food for the families, hence no time to provide social education to their children. Most of these parents do not have a chance to evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of their children. Consequently, such children tend to have improper behavior because they lack social education skills. The result is that the student might end up in drug and substance abuse, leading to low performance in school. This takes such children back to a low-class socioeconomic status. On the other hand, students from high-class status in society get social education from their parents; therefore, they grow up avoiding harmful activities in the community.

Conclusion


In conclusion, socioeconomic status highly depends on education, and vice versa is also true. Good education leads to high-class status, while poor education leads to either middle-class status or lower class status. Individuals from high-class status will be provided with high-quality education, while those from low-class status will acquire poor quality education.
