The authors of the article did not present the significance of the research.
However, researchers aimed at comparing the efficiency of midazolam and propofol when giving a procedural amnesia besides controlling a child’s behavior when they are going through EGD diagnosis. The justification supporting the investigation is that endoscopist and endoscopic nurses often use sedation when performing EGD procedures on children (Viana et al., 2017). Nonetheless, some of these sedation procedures are not effective in guaranteeing the patient’s safety and welfare, which may result in pain and enhanced memory on agony during diagnostic esophagogastroduodenoscopy commonly abbreviated as EGD. Consequently, there is need to find the most efficient sedation method that could increase the safety and control the behavior of patients without dire consequences during surgery.
The investigators were eager to fill a gap that currently exists in nursing practice and endoscopy field. They wanted to reveal to intellectuals as well as other health experts that propofol is an operative sedation procedure for controlling the behavior of children and enhances memory loss when giving amnesia.

The authors employed a quantitative method of data analysis. The study was a prospective, randomized, blinded, controlled trial exploration.
