Physician-Assisted Deaths
Physician-Assisted deaths are amongst an excellent source of debate in the current times. This act involves a situation where a physician helps a patient take his life through the prescription of certain drugs. The act is similar to Euthanasia with the difference being that in PAD, it is the patient who administers the medications himself and not the physician. There are many arguments for and against Physician-Assisted suicide to date. Some people argue that it amounts to murder-suicide, which is illegal while others believe that it is amongst the best choice in some instances. In terminally ill patients who do not have the hope for recovery, PAD should be offered as it not only alleviates them of increased suffering but also ensures that their death is dignified.
Choice for Terminally Ill Patients
Some of the terminally ill patients make the patients sick immensely to the extent that they become wholly dependent on other people. Since most of these people are opposed to the thought and idea of depending on other people, PAD is a valid choice for them. Also, such patients are sure of dying and instead of waiting for the time where they are immensely miserable, they can choose to do so while they are still in their stable state of mind.
