The main reason for the shift in contemporary ideology
The main reason, or rather cause, of the shift in ideology and thought in the contemporary environment is the development of new technology. The introduction of technology in the 20th century caused a great deal of things and human behavior to change dramatically, greatly affecting how people spend their lives. However, having a situation where none of these items were present would significantly affect how people lived their lives. People have become much lazier as a result of how much simpler technology has made work because they now know they can rely on it to get the job done. Going through a virtual reality of a situation where there would exist none of the given technology, it is imperative to go through an analysis of how I would survive in such an environment and by this, I get to appreciate my past and present.
Establishing a foundation for survival
First of all, we have to assume that since there is no development of infrastructure and technology, the environment and surrounding is just an empty lot and the only thing present is vegetation. I would seek the most basic of human beings to establish a foundation for a longer life. I would seek to create my structure that will serve as shelter. However, if there are abandoned buildings, I would use them to shelter myself. If there lack any appropriate buildings and it is a wilderness, I would seek a downed tree. A downed tree has some holes on the side and having the edge of the tree as the roof, the open side as the door and the ground as the floor I would manage to have a shelter. The most important thing is keeping dry and staying warm.
Securing a water source
Another important thing to discuss how I would survive is where I would get water. Water is another essential commodity, and human beings cannot go many days without water. The most that a human being can go is just a few weeks. Rainwater is a quality source of water. The water coming from the rain is quite fine and clean and finding something like a basin where one can capture the water and use it for future use. The water has different purposes including, washing clothes, and washing utensils and most importantly for drinking. About drinking water, it is always essential to ensure that there is enough boiling water and the reason for this is that it might get to a situation where there may lack enough rain for a time, and consequently I may have to take regular water. Having boiling water is essential for it ensures that the water I consume is free of disease-causing germs.
Strategies for obtaining food
Understanding tactics to use in getting food is another crucial aspect to understand. Moreover, comprehending the right and healthy foods to consume is another thing to note. The environment will not have institutions such as the Food and Drugs Association to identify the foods that are reputable for consumption and those that pose a risk to the health of the consumers. To get food, it is important to go through some of the various strategies that I would take.
Edible interior bark and nut trees
One of the concepts to learn is the identification of trees that have an edible interior bark. The inner bark has recognition as a good source of energy, and this is because the bark contains some products that do not exist in the other parts of the tree. The product is easy to harvest, and it is in abundance. The food from that part of the tree might taste bad but once consumed it is very healthy.
I would also look for nut trees. The nut foods are very reliable, and the reason for this is that they have high amounts of calories. With high calories, it is possible for a person to go for many days without food. High calories mean that the body has a lot of fat and consequently at times when the body does not have enough energy and access to food, it manages to break down the fat material to strength and thus I will efficiently survive. Berries are also important for the body because they have a lot of natural sugar. I would ensure to remain keen so that the berries do not ripen because, after this, the berries lost their natural sugar. With the loss of the sugar, the body lacks enough energy to sustain itself.
Hunting and cooking
Without anything else to survive on such as food commodities, I would have to hunt in the traditional ways. The nest concept to note is that I should make a stick and more specifically a throwing stick. The throwing stick is important for it will enable me to have food on the constant. With the throwing stick, I will manage to hunt down small animals for consumption. I will also make sure to carry the stick with me everywhere because these animals are everywhere.
It is also essential to learn the bow-drill as it is one of the most effective ways to make a fire and involves the rubbing of sticks across each other in fast motion, and the friction eventually creates fire. By incorporating this skill, I will be assured of well-cooked foodstuff. Some foodstuff that is grown in the farms or that comes from the wild is not consumable without being cooked, and with the given technique, all germs that might have resided on or in the commodities are killed, and food consumption is healthy.
Establishing a communication system
To communicate with other people, I would ensure that we generate our unique way of communication where different types of sounds and light would indicate a specific method that we all understand. The importance of this is that I would get to understand in case there are any developments. Lack of association is one of the most terrible things a person can indulge in, and the reason for this is that something awful might occur without knowledge. For example, a deadly disease might come up and rather than warning each other; people would silently die. With a well-established communication system, there is assurance that people would share knowledge and consequently lead to healthier living.
Appreciating the past and present
Despite the rareness of people to imagine living without the current developments that exist in the modern environment, one should take time and ponder on the actions that he/she would take if all the events did not exist. With this knowledge, people get to appreciate not only the modern environment but also the past ones. Moreover, there is assurance that people associate or relate better to the environment.
