In responding to the reading, it is puzzling to note what seems to be the conflict of interest that China has in its economic and political relationship with North Korea. The fact that China is more concerned with the stability of North Korea and unperturbed about the nuclear ambitions of its other neighboring countries causes curiosity as what could be the motivator? China vouches for amicable negotiation to end nuclear ambitions rather the use of force as suggested by the Trump’s administration. What raises more questions is the steady increase in bilateral trade and connectivity between China and North Korea. Could there be an illegal business that benefits China despite the sanctions? Although China is unhappy about the nuclear ambitions of North Korea, it seems sympathetic about the probable collapse of Pyongyang’s regime.
