The Personality Test
The personality test is one of the many psychological tests that are undertaken to help an individual identity their character and human constructs. It is a method self-assessment that has been developed in the 1920s and has undergone rapid improvement over the decades into the standard that is used today. None advanced technique for measuring personality is the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator that was first described by C. G. Jung and communicates one’s personality based on the way they use their perception and judgment. After keying in my specific traits in the testing process, I was satisfied with the report that was generated because it confirmed my behavior after I realized that I was classified as a consul. The consul comprises the ISTJ that is made up of extroversion, sensing, feeling, and judging. It was fulfilling to realize that the test was satisfactory at this point because all the elements characterize how I perceive the external world. Following the analysis of my personality trait on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, I deliberate that it is true reflection of my character even though I feel it need improvement on how it generates the information by considering that not everyone is mutually exclusive.
Identification as an Extrovert
One of the traits I agree with is the fact that I am an extrovert because rather than be engaged proactively with the world, I am often a social person in nature and I share my inner thoughts to others more often. I find it so natural to share my experiences with my friends. I realized that find my energy when am socializing with my friends and often when I hang out with my allies. It is amazing that the test correctly identified this feature because it is common to find that I hang out to make new friends because I believe in a big social sphere as it increases opportunities to engage in anything whether it is academic or recreationally. I personally love to talk and the identification that I am extroverted only served to confirm that the test is reliable in the manner in which it selects one’s personality.
Sensing Nature and Practicality
The other character that I realized is a reflection of my personality is the consideration of my sensing nature whenever I receive information. I often remain to the basic elements because I believe that information does not have to be complicated to make sense to the human mind. I often have to exercise practicality and being aware of what is present at a given time and set realistic goals based on what is attainable. It is a feature that has once gotten me into problems with my tutor who had intended me to set a goal of achieving an A+ in his subject when I knew that my potential is only limited to A grade. He ended up hating me and would claim that I was not making use of my full potential. However, when the end term results came out I had managed the grade I had told him which confirms that I was only practical.
Living in the Present and Planning Ahead
The test also confirmed that I am sensing because rather than be stressed about what the future holds, I am more reserved to present situation. I often have to seek details that are immediate and act on them as opposed to relaying on information that is primarily theoretical. For example, I have read many times that I need to practice on saving but every year when I set the resolution, I find that I cannot sustain saving when I cannot meet my immediate demands, I often relate it to the fact that I act based on the realistic immediate goals.
Finally, the report also indicated that I am a judging person which I could compare with the aspect of sensing because it is typical of me to plan things before acting on them. I always desire to be in control of the situation. It is for this reason that I always ensure that I always having some extra coins whenever even when I am no having money because I always remind myself that I am in control of everything and the best I can to is to plan well. It has enabled me to achieve most of my goals because I find it more convenient to set out a plan because while it is tedious and time-consuming, it often saves me the many awkward situations and embarrassments.
Personal Reflections
In conclusion, I was thrilled by the test results but I felt that there is a problem in the way the results are displayed because it is unlikely that people can be classed into mutually exclusive categories. I realized that I was also introverted on several occasions but the test did not consider the fact that I am reserved when I have no one around me. I feel there are many other people who also fall in the middle and the test fails to identify (Brown and Reilly 916). Nevertheless, the personality test was a great self-refection opportunity that made me realize and appreciate my true self.
