I currently work as a mechanical technician in the Ministry of Defence and I have provided my services effortlessly for approximately 15 years. In my personal development plan, I would wish to accomplish the goals of graduating from the University, establishing a private company that will specialize in the sale and maintenance of air conditioning, ventilation equipment, pumps and compressors among other mechanical inventory and also take a couple of courses in management and software. My priority however, is to graduate from the University to enable me concentrate on the other goals. I plan to accomplish these goals within a duration of seven years because I will graduate from the University after two years and spend approximately five years planning and strategizing on the establishment of my private company. In the meantime I will continue with my current job as a mechanical technician to acquire enough skills and experience to enable me manage my private enterprise.
I have adequate strengths that will enable me to accomplish the above mentioned goals and objectives in the stipulated time span. My current job has enabled to acquire adequate experience in the mechanical and engineering sector. I have also worked diligently with a team and accomplished successful realization due to my positive social relationship with team members and my enthusiasm in the engineering sector. This strength will also enhance my future private enterprise ambition. My greatest weakness is the lack of administrative skills that are essential in the management of a private business venture. I plan on undertaking further studies in master's in business administration to enhance my administrative skills.
My personal development plan will be affected by the threats and opportunities that I have been exposed. Some of the primary threats that might limit my success realization include the high level of competition in the maintenance and engineering sector from the already established and reknowm enterprises. My ambitions might also be affected by various unknown circumstances such as financial constraints and limited market for the inventory which I plan to offer into the market. However, these threats will not hinder my ambition as I will maximize on the already available opportunities to strive and push for success. I plan to take advantage of the availability of the new engineering projects in my country and offer my tender for these projects. The new projects and the connections I already have from the ministry of Defence will offer me market to begin my private business.
I also plan on developing new skills including enhancing my level of technology in the mechanical engineering sector. Technology is significant in improving both efficiency of production and the quality of products for the demand of my products. I plan to take immediate action by doing quality research about the requirements and expectations of running a private business from various mentors who have successfully achieved in managing and operating their private mechanical engineering business ventures.
The management of of a business enterprise would require adequate support from a team of professionals whom I plan to work with. I will work with professionals from the information and computer technology sector, accounting and finance and sector and also the human resource sector for an effective management team. I will also need some support from my family members in the form of financial support, advice and encouragement that will push me in to my dream and ambition realization. I will measure my progress after every year to determine whether I have completed the little steps that I have planned in the personal development plan.
