To live a happy and a fulfilling life one must first come to terms with his/her current situation. In most cases, people live in denial and are obsessed with other people’s lifestyle and end up living beyond their means. The social media is awash with flashy lifestyles that are in most cases fictional. However, trying to keep up with the standards set by various online users may increase one's stress level. As such, it is important to understand and accept oneself and be satisfied with whatever little you have. Attaining financial freedom and spending time with family and friends is a key ingredient to happiness. Additionally, finding the right person who shares your ambitions and dreams is a crucial step for living a fulfilling life. Therefore, by first attending to one's emotional, physical and financial needs, an individual can then share his/her abundance and joy with the less privileged.
One can live a meaningful and fulfilling life by making the world a better place in his/her own small way. On a personal level, I derive great inner pleasure by helping the less privileged. Additionally, making peace with those that may have wronged you helps create positive emotions. However, holding grudges only tears one down and reinforces negative emotions.
Practicing gratitude despite the looming challenges can help one live a fulfilling life. For instance, showing appreciation and gratitude for good health despite the financial challenges can help reduce stress levels. Showing appreciation reinforces positive emotions and this, in turn, attracts positive outcomes. In my view, wealth does not necessarily bring happiness. Wealth without compassion only creates greed. As such, wealth should only be viewed as a means to an end and not the end itself.
