Letter to President Donald Trump of the United States of America

Impact of Policy Biases on Millions of People

As the world's senior-most politician, the new president of a superpower, and the rightful leader of the free world, your policies as a president and a republican politician reverberate around the world. If it is a decision to slash funding to Africa based on conservative ideals to create America first, or even questions of citizenship that have lately ignited controversies due to the administration's strict anti-immigrant policies. These policy biases have a variety of effects on the life of millions of people. Certain lives are broken, households are dispersed, and the economy is jeopardized. Societies with highly liberalized political freedom required equally grown economic systems, and as a result, an observation on the financial sanction policies the US administration has adopted recently seems to be in contrast with the Hayek-Friedman Hypothesis that has become widely accepted in the world (Smith 234).

Policy Choices and Reflection on Consequences

But even so many policy leanings are informed by fundamental believes which I believe is nonetheless applicable in the case of policy bias that the current administration may have. It can be observed that the US administration led by President Trump has dedicated efforts towards populist, nationalist and protectionist. This is justifiable in the face of an exploding global sphere rising competition from new and old powerhouse countries it is essential that each state sets rights its operations and systems to remain relevant and able to protect its citizens and interests across the world. This justification does not outrightly legitimize policy choices without thoughtful reflection on its consequences and efforts to minimize adverse impacts on Humans. In the end, policy should be focused on helping people live better as opposed to worsening their situations.

Quest for a Better Station

The appropriate policy should not only be well thought out and implemented but also have to be centered on achieving a just society and a benevolent government. As Euripides in Medea illustrates quest for a better station should not cloud the decisions we make that put to risk the current station (Euripides et al. 56). The analogy of one's station in this context refers to the relative stability that America has enjoyed since the Iraqi operations in the early years of the millennium. However, Since then terror threats in the form of ISIL, AL-Qaeda, Al-Shabaab and Boko Haram continue to pose a threat to the united states interest’s and while this needs to be mitigated it is only prudent that policy towards eliminating this risk does not become costly entangles for the government equal to the place Jason finds himself after Medea’s revenge. Aswini Mohparta attributes acts of terrorism to radical Islamic fundamentalism as opposed to clinical psychic results (Mohapatra 101). Nonetheless, it is important to acknowledge that while all terrorists are Islam, not all Islam worshippers are terrorists, Anti-immigration or economic sanction policy in good faith then should embody the acknowledgment that not all Muslims are terrorists and thus action should only target radicalized elements as opposed to society as a whole. Policy basing terror assessment and mitigation measures as opposed to societal stigmatization benefits the U.S by befriending anti-terrorist Muslim who are significant in the war against terrorism. Further, friendly policy relieves thousands of refugees and goodwill asylum seekers the brutality of returning to their warring countries or humanitarian destitution due to hunger and lack of shelter and peace.

Approach towards Taxation

The current US administration towards taxation is commendable. Steven Mnuchin, the US treasury secretary, associates the current rally in the stock market as one of the effects of tax reforms and cuts expectations across the country especially among the corporate business community. The treasury secretary holds that tax reforms were likely to cause an even more significant effect on US equities on a definite scale (Fleming & Samson 13). The impact of tax reforms on the country’s economic performance are notable, and thus its necessity is justified, however, policy on tax reforms should equally aim at a just society and a benevolent government. Societal Justice and government benevolence in tax reforms can be achieved through a fair, simple, adequate, transparent and administratively easy tax system. The current tax reforms meet most of these standards of simplicity, transparency and administrative ease. However, the system falls short of fair on several quarters; the changes propose three individual tax bands compared to previous seven. This reduction implies that different earning clusters shall be merged stretching the earning margins such that the middle tax band may include a relatively low earner on the lower side and a high income earned on the upper limit. A government has to be both fair and benevolent such that benevolence does not supersede the governments need to be fair.

Religious Freedom and Policy

Finally, on impiety and religious believes, the current administration has come out strongly in defense of religious freedom. The president a Presbyterian has been cited on many occasions quoting spiritual works by Peale and acknowledged severally that he has spiritual confidants. Jeff sessions are quoted saying “Every American has a right to believe, worship, and exercise their faith,” which is a fundamental pillar towards harmonious state and religion interactions. Maggie Garrett criticizes the current administration policies as a blueprint for religious discrimination. Garrett urges that Current policy particularly page 25 of the Department of Justice Federal Law Protections for Religious Liberty guidance as discriminative of women and LGBTQ groups. Plato’s interactions with Euthyphro Leaves readers with an impression that there is no exact definition of holy and thus holiness can only remain a desire but cannot be actualized. Plato and Euthyphro dialogues are characterized by inconclusiveness suggesting that religious correctness cannot be conclusively defined and thus cannot be interpreted and or implemented. As a result, the current administration’s policy towards religion and religious freedom and correctness is justified given that perfect correctness can hardly be achieved (Allen 114).

Conclusion

In conclusion, the aim of every government being to protect both its citizens and interest’s it is important that policies should be tailored to meet these expectations. Notably personal ideology influences policy inclinations that are an essential component in a just society and a benevolent government. It is thus necessary for policy administrators to understand the importance of citizenship, sacrifice, and service in creating a sense of community a necessary foundation for building a just society. Equally, policy should beware of the moral limits that determine what is agreeable, and while it is clear that total correctness can hardly be achieved moral correctness should be the foundation for policy development and or reforms. Finally, as a political leader, it is crucial to consider equality, solidarity and civic virtues as essential aspects in policy development. Balance does not only provide legitimacy of policy but also represents its moral correctness. Equally without solidarity and civic virtue policy can hardly be successfully implemented and thus its impacts may not be tangible.
