The shared feeling of identity among Koryo people

The shared feeling of identity among Koryo people sets them apart from other people. For instance, Koryo became well-known thanks to the Myoch' 'ong revolt, which took place in the year 1135. However, the rebellion has encountered a variety of viewpoints in support of its political rather than its academic efforts. The Koryo people's decision to surrender to Yuan after an unsuccessful anti-Mongol uprising is another characteristic that defines them. According to history, Koryo was granted independence in return for services provided through matrimonial connections to the imperial court in Yuan. The past of the Koryoan people is characterized by various manifestations of resistance, persuasion, and submission. The main aim of this essay is to identify the sense of identity that is shared by the people in Koryo as well as the differences in the proceedings between the Silla and the Koryoan's period.

Resistance

The rebellion of Myoch``ong in the year 1135 is one of the proceedings that marked the identity of Koryo's period. The rebellion, as well as its significance, was catapulted to the forefront of the history of Korea and analysis of the rebellion. Apart from its historical significance, the rebellious nature of the people in Koryo has identified its pluralism identity. Some aspects led to the emergence of the Myoch``ong. It is worth noting that Myoch``ong was one of the geomancers, or rather a monk whose riles in the 1120s after the Yi Chagyom's quarreling aspect. The first time that Myoch``ong was well heard was in the year 1127. Since he had already possessed some reputation in geomancer, some rituals were performed in Koryo's courts with the aim of protecting the nation. It is during this period that he claimed that Koryo's capital would be moved to the western money. In fact, in the year 1132, a new place was built in the Western Capital for the preparations of the movement. The group of people who were supporting the revolutionary movement was diverse. In fact, their ideological orientations to the campaign were valid. Their antithetical nature, the offices they held as well as their origin differed. Many officials had defected to join the movement until the rebellion in the Western capital fell (Robinson 98)

Due to its rebellious nature, the name of Myoch``ong was utilized as a synonym for discord. In fact, the events that took place during the reign of In Jong almost brought down the dynasty in Koryo. It was the rule of Yi Chagyom's that had shaken the dynasty in the state. After a period, Myoch``ong turned his revolutionary movement into a dispute and paid the price. It is during this time that he lost his life and made into the scapegoat to all the discord aspects that were in existence in the early twelfth century in Koryo. His death marked the defeat of his movement. The aspect leads to the end of the Western Capital rebels who were punished and dispersed. However, his revolutionary movement was not his rebellion. In fact, most of his ideas were abused by the capitalist elite in the society. History records that his political force had upset the equilibrium precedence thus his elimination were meant to restore it. The aspect of challenging the events surrounding the rebellion of Myoch``ong shows the pluralism sense of identity of Koryo. Although for a very long period things seem to take any direction, Koryo people came together when its ways of life were threatened. In addition to this, the rebellion nature indicated that the contingency of emphasizing pluralism is a precarious attempt that could have led to the destruction of the state (Hyon-ku 34)

Persuasive and Submissiveness

Later, history indicates that there was an anti -Mongol that was against the Yuan governorship. However, the people in Koryo were promised of a state of independence in the sense of receiving matrimonial services. The establishment of the son-in-law state was an indication of a new relationship that was established in an attempt of re-organizing the political nature in Koryo. During this period, Koryo had come to exist as an independent state in an effort of avoiding governmental intervention as well as control by the Yuan. The aspect explains the reasons as to why the country could defend its stand and had to witness changes in the government course of being a son-in-law state. The fact that Ch`ungson spent about four years on the throne in the capital of Yuan made a lot of complexities in the internal politics. He used the message system to rule over the land because of the stable domestic leadership in Koryo. The aspect of Koryo giving in the son-in-law aspect of governorship also reveals the sense of submissive nature that identifies the people in Koryo (Yoon 19)

Differences

The Koryo and the Silla period had shifting alliances. However, Silla was the smaller and weaker as compared the Koryo dynasty. Despite its weaknesses, Silla made cunning diplomatic means to make treaties with powerful kingdoms. The aspect was critical in making it's powerful as well as shielding itself from political enemies. The element was different to the Koryo's period where insurgent groups such as anti-mongrel emergence to fight for state independence.
