Peace: A Desired State for Humanity
Peace is the most wanted but seldom found object. It refers to a state of calm in which there is no disorder, aggression, or terror. At the present, humanity's evolutionary challenge is to achieve harmony. Many nations around the globe are attempting to find a solution to the global problem of conflict. There are many routes to negotiation, as well as avenues for the United States to control international policy in terms of peace.
The Path to Peace Through Knowledge
The first path to peace is through knowledge, the ultimate aim of which is understanding (Yitzhak). When we teach our people, they are able to make better choices. Those people are capable of objectively analyzing the topics that lead them to disagree. For instance, an educated person knows that if they choose war as a means of conflict resolution they will fight and after the blood shade they will sit down and negotiate. He or she can, therefore, skip war and violence and directly enter into a negotiation with his or her rival.
War in many countries around the world is as a result of poor leadership. Leadership as a part of peace is very crucial in aligning the subjects towards the right direction. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as a leader, believed that only non-violent actions could bring peace and justice. In 1963, through his famous speech 'I have a dream,' he was able to change the perception of Americans towards their differences in color, races, age, and background (Jane). His major goal was transformation, and he achieved this through the right kind of leadership. Americans were able to transform and live peacefully with one another, black, white, and Indians.
The Personal Path to Peace: Seeking Integrity
The personal path to peace, whose mission is to seek integrity, is also important in the development of peace. Here, a person sits down and criticizes himself or herself at a personal level. He or she irons out his mistakes trying to do what is just to his fellows. Through what is right, integrity is achieved. The ultimate result of integrity is peace. Peace only comes after justice (Jane). The activist's path to peace tends to seek justice. Both human rights activists and Greenpeace activists work hard all over the world to bring justice to every one of us. Hillary Clinton is one of the most famous activists. She has been fighting for human rights and against gender-based and racial-based discrimination. Discrimination, as we know, is the first to conflict. She has been fighting for both blacks, Indians, and even the whites. Her quest for peace is obvious to everyone around the world (Yitzhak).
Living in Harmony: The Creative Part of Peace
Living in harmony is very important for peace to exist. The creative part of peace seeks harmony. Through this path, one can creatively coexist with other people. He or she learns to accept the ideas of others while at the same time expressing his or her ideas without upsetting the others (Yitzhak). By living in harmony and coexistence, there is no place for war to exist in society. Therefore, as a result, peace is left to reign. In society, how we relate to one another is also part of another aspect that helps us to either attract peace or even war. The relationship path to peace, whose main mission is to seek love among the members of society, can lead each of us to peace. When we love one another and relate well, peace will just come out automatically without much effort (Jane).
The Global Path to Peace
The greatest path to peace is the global path. It unites all other paths to peace, and its major goal is to seek the community. The global path to peace teaches us to live in love, harmony, peace, and unity. When we embrace this path, we learn that all humans are equal regardless of race, culture, religion, and origin. This helps to prevent hatred and discrimination. It eventually leads to peace among members of society. The United States has a role in building international order and peace among American citizens (Jane). Many countries have benefited from the investments that the United States of America has made in global security and prosperity (Yitzhak). The United States has also helped in the maintenance of peace between countries including Iran, Iraq, Libya, and Vietnam, among others.
America's global leadership has an obligation to defend the aspects of the international system that work and adapt those that do not defend. It also has a role in providing a blueprint that will help in the maintenance of global order among all nations (Jane). The United States also has a role in constructing a system of international institutions and security alliances that will provide a framework for advancing economic and political freedom in the years to come. Another role of the United States in foreign affairs is to support governments that are trying to create enabling environments for citizens in order for them to be united. This should not be in terms of grants and aid but in terms of moral support to the citizens.
In our quest for peace, we must, therefore, learn the right path that, if we follow, will guide us into living in peace and harmony. Though we should remember that every path to be taken towards peaceful cohesion has its challenges that we must face.
