To help employees lower their stress, I would introduce an open forum day. This is a day whereby they will be able to talk about their problems. In this forum, they are not only limited to talking about the workplace but also to open up about the issues at their homes. This is a coping mechanism, social support. If there are employees who would not like to open up in a “safe circle”, then they would be free to talk it out with the H.R.
This would be a working weekend such as Saturday. During this day the employees would carry notebooks and write down how they feel emotionally or anything they would want to talk about. They would do a personal mastery test to ensure that they are working towards their personal vision. This would be guided by a life coach who would help them understand what is hindering them from working towards their visions and goals.
Personal mastery involves clarifying the personal visions day in day out (Senge 1). For the organization, this means stating their work objectives and strategies to their employees. This will help employees know what they are working towards for a given period. Each employee should have their own organizational goal to work towards.
The vision being worked towards is increasing profits compared to the previous year’s profits. This involves beating the competition using new structures. This means there is change that will occur in the organization
The creative tension being used is involvement of employees. This means caring about the employees’ wellbeing. This involves training and having counseling services for them. A happy employee means better performance.
