The Impact of a Global Workforce on Job Requirements
The presence of a global population necessitates the creation of new job specifications. Many companies are beginning to embrace the idea of a modern working ecosystem. However, before this shift happens, many challenges must be addressed in order to realize a global workforce climate. This includes social and organizational reconfiguration, technological transformation, virtual world development, human-machine cooperation, and global talent.
As a result, dramatic shifts in job descriptions can be seen that are far from what is actually available in the job market. In my situation, a multinational workforce would entail a shift in career expectations in a variety of ways. However, this essay will only highlight two ways the change will impact my job requirements.
1. Increased Skill Requirements
Firstly, high skills, more to what I can secure a job with now will be a prerequisite to landing a good job. The economy is changing from the dexterity of manual and strength to verbal and mathematical alongside interpersonal and organizational skills (Boudreau 1). This is as a result of the emerging technologies in the market that are in need of high skills to operate. The big data concept among other technological innovations are ideas that have just entered the market and are revolutionizing the business market. They can not, therefore, be managed by physical strength or little skills but with highly acquired skills. This demands business reinvention to adapt to such systems.
2. Emphasis on Talent
Secondly talent. The global workforce in one way or the other pools together labor's workforce through the globalization of organizations. As such, there will be the provision of human resources across the globe. So as to realize the best productive workforce in the industry, some filters have to be introduced. This is also premised on the fact that businesses are in constant competition across the globe and require the best and innovative skills in the market. Therefore talent as a requirement will chip in in job specifications. Organizations view blending of skills and talent, specifically tech-talent, as a way of introducing and sustaining innovation in the business sphere (Boudreau 1). Innovative minds fuel innovation and ultimately will improve production, quality, and reduce cost.
