Introduction
Today, English is one of the many taught languages in US schools regardless of the language being the most spoken language in the nation. The United States, being a developed nation, is made up of many ethnic groups, e.g., Latinos and Asians whose native languages are different from English and therefore, the introduction of English language teaching in schools was mainly to familiarise learners with a language that they are bound to encounter almost at all times (Gryphon House Books, 2010).
The Importance of English Language Teaching
Most notably, the US government has over the years encouraged English language teaching to young learners, by incorporating it into the syllabus right from pre-school to advanced schools, seeing teachers utilize different approaches to motivate the learner's inner incentives for learning a language. For example, teachers today use art in the form of poems, songs, and cartoons in teaching English. When learners engage with such kind of art, it becomes easy for them to familiarise with English vocabularies and grammar and other components quickly and easily (Stakanova " Tolstikhina, 2014, p. 458). I understand that the US government has put a lot of effort in developing English language teaching in early childhood education, a move that I believe does not only help a learner improve their thinking, memory, thinking, perception and imagination but also form a solid basis for further English education.
Positive Impact
Generally, I think that English language teaching in the USA has greatly developed over the years and is having a positive impact on both the learners and the teachers. The education system has and is still putting impressive efforts in incorporating different methods of teaching English, especially as a second language. Also through the development, the general education skills among learners have developed, especially those from different ethnic groups as they get to expand their scope in the process of learning the English language.
