The term divorce describes the act of legally dissolving a marriage, usually between a man and a woman. However, with the modern social constructs, the term has been modified to include same-sex partners as the law allows for such marriages. Divorce deals with both partners being in unison to terminate their marriage relations before their death or that of their spouse (Aziz, 378).The number of divorced partners is on the rise with this new era where people are free to do as they please. The societal construct that existed before the current one was rigid and did not allow for such provisions. In this paper, I will demonstrate why divorce should be made illegal as it has several detrimental effects.
Many countries allow for divorce regardless what the church or society has to say about say matter. Divorce has several detrimental effects on children. Divorce is a long process and dangerous process though it will allow for the divorcee to have some freedom on their part as with its termination one is free from marital obligations (Aziz 379).
There are those that argue that the whole process will enlighten children on how to be responsible and to adapt to life situations. However, with all issues about divorce, the children are always at a loss. Financially, the parents might lack funds as most are used in the process thus their children suffer and get the subpar education and become emotionally distraught.
The sense of stability once known by their young ones is also shattered as they see their families break. The process will, also, have traumatizing experiences to the children in the marriage unless the parties involved come up with ways to mitigate its effects.
