A Study on Behavior Changes among Adolescent Teenagers
A group of researchers investigated behavior changes prompted by adolescent teenagers. The group was motivated to carry out the study due to the evidence of behaviors of young people when they reach a certain stage-adolescence. The investigation is important in psychology, and therefore the hypothesis of the study was; adolescent has a tendency to motivate an individual to engage in pro-social behavior and abstain from behaviors that may compromise health.
The Self-Determined Approach Theory and Adolescent Participants
The study used self-determined approach theory to examine the adolescent participants' who were motivated to involve themselves in productive work such a service to the community. In this case, the suggestion ought to change the mentality of teenagers to divert from sex-oriented thoughts and perhaps physically to engage themselves. The individual participant who was involved in the study consisted a total number of 419 late adolescent children across the country where the recruited on an online platform. The procedures were simple, parents with children between the ages of 15-18 only were contacted via emails. The applicants finished the test they were motivated to involve themselves in volunteering and to donate; basically to abstain from sex and specific drug- marijuana. Findings and Limitations of the Study
The procedure findings were four motivational profiles that is the high motivation, medium motivation, low and mixed motivation and mixed motivation. Also, the data were cross-sectional and correlational making it stiff to infer causality and temporary ordering. Nevertheless, it was difficult to know if the participant filled up the required survey. Although there were challenge the results were pleasing, and they are reliable.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the study used the self-determination theory structure for investigating adolescent's motivations to engage in charitable and volunteering donation. The three levels of motivation in individuals vary. Precisely, the study helps to educate adolescents to involve themselves in an activity that is desirable and abstaining rather than healthy behaviors that are unhealthy.
