Classification of Daffodils
There are between 40 and 200 species of daffodils, and approximately 32,000 registered cultivars. The varieties can be further classified according to their flower color, form, and cup size. To simplify the process, horticulturists use the Official Classification System, a classification system developed by the Royal Horticultural Society. To help you find the right variety for your garden, it's helpful to look for daffodils with the same flower shape and cup size.
'Las Vegas'
The daffodil is an annual bulb that grows up to 4 inches tall. It has pure white petals with a large bright yellow trumpet. These bulbs are great perennializers and make a beautiful spring addition to the garden. They're also a wonderful choice for a container garden. The daffodil flower is a 4"-wide trumpet, which is surrounded by yellow stamens.
The daffodil Las Vegas is an upfacing giant of the daffodil family. It has large, creamy-white petals and a frilly buttercup-yellow trumpet. Its height can reach forty-five to sixty-five inches, making it a great choice for a container garden. This variety is the pollen parent of cultivars such as 'Gold Disk' and 'Paris Dream.' It has a sturdy, tall stem, large flowers and a crisp yellow trumpet.
'Sovereign'
'Sovereign' daffy has a unique flower coloration. Instead of having a single hue, this flower has a rich, double apricot color and a thick, strap-shaped leaf. It's one of the best pink daffodils available. It can be hardy to zones 5a-6b, and is easy to force on pebbles during winter.
This spring-blooming flower features a large daisy-like face with a bright orange cup. It grows 14 to 16 inches tall and is a good choice for containers. Its scientific name is Adonis Vernalis. Its bright yellow petals and split cup make it a stunning cut flower and look lovely planted in groups. 'Sovereign' daffodils are an outstanding choice for spring gardens.
'Accent'
Daffodils, or Narcissus, are beautiful spring flowers. There are many varieties of daffodils, from dwarf to standard, and they come in shades of yellow and white. Each daffodil has a cup-like center that is covered with outside petals. A daffodil bulb is relatively easy to grow, and it will naturalise quite well. Accent on daffodils has large, cup-like flowers, with pink coronas and white perianth segments. They bloom from late spring to early summer, and they have excellent vase-life.
During their growth and flowering stage, daffodils need a lot of water, but they are hardy and will survive a frost if given the proper care. Once they've flowered, they will need fertiliser. To boost their growth, you can use all-purpose fertilizer. This will help them stay healthy and beautiful for years to come. If your soil is poor, you can also use it to improve the soil's nutrient level.
