Music is one of the best approach that is used to convey message since the tone, beats and the rhythm makes it not only more interesting to the listener but also memorable .In western countries, the rate of music evolution is rapid and it has come a long way. Worldwide, billions of music albums in different genres have been released in the market. To be able to study the trend and commonalities the paper classify music according to the period. Therefore, the thesis of the paper focus on the relationship of music to each decade from the 1960s through 2000-2010.
In 1960s, Motown Record Corporation was formed. It was the first organization to integrate racial into the music because the owner was black American hence it was an opportunity for the black to feature in the industry For instance, music brings about connection of different culture and enhance understanding. Therefore, the activists can apply the power of music and its potential in tackling a burning issue (Gerdy, 2017). Music integration and social justice is embedded deeply in cultural framework of specific groups. For example, the blues are recognized as the work and contribution of African American to music but the genre is remembered for its role of aiding in shaping the political consciousness. The corporation managed to release their top 10 hits in the industry of which Mircales artist became the second one on the Billboard Hot 100 with the song Shop Around. Also, during the time, it leaded in terms of sales being the first one to record revenue in millions. The change of technology in the industry brought about shift of music from audio to video Bob Dylan being the first one to take advantage of it with his song subterranean homesick blues. The first female pop group called the Supremes featured in the Billboard charts at the top spot during the moment.
However, in 1970s, music took another course from pop to rock. The century unveiled most popular rock bands for instance, Aerosmith which is known globally. During the performances at various concert, the rock band made use of creativity such as distinguished facial paints. Moreover, they also spitted blood, breathed fire and even levitated instruments. In 1990s, the level of competition in the music industry became stiff and other genres were also discovered. Grunge as well as subgenre become famous during this period with Nirvana being successful. Currently, the style of grunge is still practiced. However, other subgenre such as Britpop was also developed as a result of reaction against some cultural as well as musical trends during this time. Female pop like Spice Girls"quote took the globe with storm becoming the best group of British which inspired and gave rise to pop teen. Also, Eminem made the sale of marshal record to rise because of his style of rapping which involved throwing down the rhythm.
Lastly, in 2000 music industry started incorporating not only popular culture but also mainstreaming famous genre. During the century, an artist called Britney spear became famous after releasing two albums that broke the revenue records. However, the development of social media such as face book completely changed the music industry. For instance, Rage Against the machine was able to reach at the top because of the technology. The gift of iTunes cards to some songs that were famous played significant roles in enabling them to re-enter top 40 in 2010.
Therefore, the paper concludes that a lot of changes has taken place since 1960s. As the time goes by new genres continue to be unfolded with the help of creativity by the artists. However, development of social media have not only assisted in the spread of music but also provide an opportunity to reach out to the sponsors in case of financial difficulties of raising an album.
