The Beauty of Belle Isle Park

Belle Isle Park is an island park that features a variety of natural beauty that people find attractive and enjoyable. This isle is located in Michigan and receives visitors from around and far from Michigan, because of the beautiful features including wildlife and the natural herbs and trees it has. The island is relatively large, covering as large as 982 acres of land.

                                                           Who was there?

Belle Isle is one the country’s most popular parks, according to statistics conducted on the people that frequently visit the space. Actually, from the research conducted on the number of visitors at the park, approximately 4 million citizens had visited the park in 2016 alone (Rodriguez 2003). This was done through the counting of cars and frequency of people visiting the park on a daily basis.

From my visit to the island, I realized that the most people who visit the island are relatively older people and adults who wanted to enjoy the serene beauty of the island. Adults often bring their kids to the park, have fun daily and eventually go home after enjoying the beauty of nature. Some other groups of people visit the park for meditation, because the park has a very serene environment. Other people, especially the older sit on pews at the park and enjoy the scenery.

                                                  How they used the space

Belle Isle is a 982- acre island in Detroit River. As mentioned earlier, it is the most visited park in the United States of America. This is a relatively big space that allows different individuals to have their needs catered. The isle contains several features that allow different people to have fun. For instance, the park contains the Dossin Great Lakes Museum, Detroit Boat Club, and Belle Isle Conservatory that has wildlife, Belle Isle Aquarium, the MacArthur Bridge, a zoo and eventually, a memorial (Ewing 2011). The memorial is a fountain that was placed there in honor of James Scott. Apart from these, the isle also contains several bathrooms, picnic shelters, fix lights among other features.

                                                         Who wasn’t there?

From my observation, the least number of visitors to the park was the youth. Apparently, the youth find it boring to visit places of nature on a daily basis. Rather, the youth prefer visiting places of fun such as malls clubs among other recreational places. However, that does not imply that the park has no fun. As a matter of fact, adults enjoy being at the park since the peace provided by nature is all most of them need. Moreover, the isle is good for hosting picnics. There are several picnic shelters all around the park.

                                                                     Rules

Several rules on the park include the forbiddance of alcohol in the park. This is one of the rules that keep away the youth from the park, especially since they mostly prefer having fun wherever they go. Moreover, irresponsible behavior is not allowed at the park. Patrols are conducted by the police to ensure that the rules are adhered to.

                                                       Who manages it?

Belle Isle park is owned by the city of Detroit and managed by the state. It is among the parks registered by the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The park was created in 1845 as a state park that has remained so to date. It is located at Detroit River, and it is one of the largest islands on Detroit islands.
