Just like any other student I have made poor decisions by wasting resources in learning institutions which affected me later in life. However, I changed my ways after reading “Some Lessons from the Assembly Line” by Andrew Braaksma. In the article, Andrew is trying to urge teenagers take their academics seriously to avoid harsh life in future. He claims that knowledge is power as well as the key live a happy life in the contemporary society. The main point used by the author to support his claim that students must spend most of their time studying to live happy lives in future. Furthermore, Braaksma also points out that employees in most factories live difficult lives due to hard labor and underpayment because they did not work hard in school.
In the article, Braaksma was addressing both campus and high school students in the community. However, addressing this audience possess potential challenges such as getting access to the article and most of them may not comprehend the purpose of the message passed by the author. My main goal is to provide advice to students who tend to focus more on extra-curricular activities rather than classwork during school days. I agree with the author’s claim that most employees in manufacturing industry suffer from adverse working conditions and underpayment. Thus, excelling in education allows people to secure well-paying jobs with better working conditions. Basing on my claim to support the author I believe adding more effort to achieve academic excellence in class will lead to a bright future. Moreover, success in education will improve the economy and help employees in factories to earn reasonable wages.
In the writing process, revision is a crucial aspect. By revising the work, one can transform it from his understanding to writing that links with the audience. One of the most effective strategies I will employ in revising my essay is proofreading. During writing one makes a lot of spelling and grammar mistakes that will only be identified through proofreading. This revision strategy will help learners to overcome spelling and grammar mistakes as well as the avoidance of poor sentence structures in the essay.
Furthermore, receiving feedback from outside sources is crucial since it will assist the author in improving the content to be more comprehensive. Feedback also ensures that every information regarding the thesis is incorporated into the essay.
