Artists use a wide spectrum of human actions to create performing artifacts and show their artistic talent. In its most basic form, it entails art criticism, the study of art history, and the propagation of its aesthetic values. Among the many forms of art, street art and graffiti are two examples that resemble one another.
Street art and graffiti: The similarities and differences
First of all, street art is done in public spaces and has a context that is outside of regular art venues, whereas graffiti is written or even drawn on a surface that is visible to the general public. The main difference between the two is the intention. The graffiti artists aim at getting the attention of their fellow graffiti drawers or writers and not the public.
For instance, Wynwood walls contain fantastic paintings of graffiti artists, aspiring painters, and various creativities. Its history began in 2000's where the developer Tony Goldman noticed the potentiality of the place and decided to make the situation a cultural oasis. Nowadays, the street is liked by many pedestrians because of its beautiful art everywhere one looks. The walls are well-preserved, and the buildings that surround the park have been covered by murals that keep on changing according to different artists' inspirations.
Renowned artists in the art world
Several renowned artists have always done good work. One of them is Keith Haring. The artist has his foundation referred to as The Keith Haring Foundation that has a motive of expansion, sustenance, and protection of his legacy, art, and ideals. Keith has also contributed his talents and resources to several causes. For example, he has carried out workshops with children, made posters for several agencies, made sculptures and murals aimed at benefiting health centers and the less fortunate communities.
John Decker was also a set designer, painter, and caricaturist who lived in London and did his work mostly in theatre. However, he was affected by the first world war because he was arrested due to claims of being the enemy of alien. A lot of his work was appreciated one of them is a portrait of his drinking companion that hangs at Chasen restaurant in Hollywood. Below is one of his creative work.
Lastly, there is an exciting artist who conceals his identity by using Blu as his name. He started in the year 1999 by graffiti paintings in the Bologna suburbs. In the year 2004, he got a chance to participate in the collective shows. Blu has his work in places like central and South America, West Bank, Europe, England, Germany and Spain.
