Interviewed person: I think adolescents today are often looking for trouble. Even when they are having fun, they are more extreme.


Me: I think that adolescents today are using the best of what their generation has, even though it may seem that they are lonely, naïve and depressed.


2. What advice would you give someone of my age?


Interviewed person: I would tell them that the biggest regret comes from what they won’t do, not what they do.


Me: Besides working hard, make time for family.


3. How was marriage changed over the years?


Interviewed person: Most people today are not willing to fight for their marriages. The mobile phone and the internet are ruining many marriages and reducing attention spouses give to each other.


Me: most spouses today are empowered such that they can seek employment with ease, and recognize their rights and hence more alert and flexible.


4. What is your opinion on how social media has taken over this generation?


Interviewed person: Social media has particularly made more people connected and informed, but it has taken more time for people with immense responsibilities.


Me: social media is an avenue for huge opportunities for information and expression, networking.


5. How has things changed since your childhood years?


Interviewed person: During out time, the average young person was determine to learn anything, we were even eager to drive and party upon attaining the statutory age. Adults stood for each other, and families often met and had a good time.


Me: Most young people today are more naïve in family matters than the predecessors their age. However, they are very fashionable and tech-savvy.


6. Did you imagine the world to be the way it is today?


Interviewed person: people today are more individualistic.


Me: I think innovations are happening fast, and would have been expected a few decades ago. Also, people today are more knowledgeable because of many information sources.


7. What do you think is the biggest pressure teenagers deal with today?


Interviewed person: teenagers are competing to impress people they do not even know.


Me: Today’s teens are struggling to obey their parents and put enough time in education.  


8. Describe what you think the “perfect teenager” is like in society’s point of view?


Interviewed person: The perfect teenager is beautiful/handsome, bright in school, well behaved in good in sports. Most teenagers do not have all these, and it makes them feel inadequate.


Me: The perfect teenager tries any endeavor to the best of his or her ability. However, society often thinks that teenagers do not do enough.


9. How has parenting changed over the years?


Interviewed person: I think most parents are too busy to take care of their children and unite their families.


Me: Parents today put a lot of pressure for their children to be successful, and fail to love adequately children who struggle to make it in life.


10. If you could change one thing about our world today, what would it be and why?


Interviewed person: I would make people conscious of their actions so they love one another. That way, they would not be so many deaths and neglect.


Me: I think I would make it possible for people to learn about each other’s minds so it becomes possible to know friends and turn enemies around.


11. What is your opinion on the respect level adolescents have today?


Interviewed person: I think adolescents have a lot of respect for adults but they hide so many things, and such deceit eventually becomes disrespectful.


Me: adolescents today do not show much respect to adults and to each other, probably because they are more individualistic and lonelier today than in yester years.  


12. In your opinion do you think society plays a role with how adolescents develop today?


Interviewed person: the society today idolatrizes people with financial achievement and it makes so many underachievers hopeless and paranoid.


Me: The society today is burdensome to the average adolescent. Adolescents have access to too much information but are not being mentored, yet they are required to have a high moral standing.


The interviewed person is 63 years old and is in stage 8 of Erikson
