Older individuals and their unique needs
Older individuals are a special group that has unique needs and expectations. In Inglewood, California, the senior citizens have access to certain services and facilities aimed at making their lives better and enabling them to live in dignity. Some of the available facilities are homemaker services, respite care, confidant care, personalized care, and care for seniors with Alzheimer's and dementia, and opportunities for employment (Home Helpers, 2018). The services and facilities offered in Inglewood, California give respite to numerous elder citizens that would otherwise have a difficult old age. Besides, the facilities and services are designed to cater for the needs of the vulnerable group and have achieved significant positive results.
Gaps in existing services and facilities
Despite the effectiveness of the facilities, gaps exist that the community should endeavor to fill. For example, some of the seniors appear lonely because their families do not visit them regularly. On the same note, the homes for the seniors should have some activities that could keep them engaged, such as rearing of chicken. However, it is important to ensure the tasks are simple and easy enough because of their age and physical frailty (Anikeeff, "Mueller, 2012). There is the need to increase the number and capacity of the nursing homes to take care of the health needs of the elderly citizens. In the same way, some of the seniors that live independently require regular assistance with household chores (Ball, 2012). The addition of the above services would give the seniors a chance to spend their time fruitfully and receive the care they deserve. Notably, some of the citizens have the strength and the will to take part in income-generating activities. The enhanced healthcare facilities will ensure timely medical attention for the seniors should the need arise.
