Donald Trump's Travel Ban and Its Impact on the Community

Donald Trump, Judge Richard R. Clifton, Judge Michelle T. Friedland and Judge William C. Canby Jr. are the political actors in this article and their interests were to suspend global refugee immigration to the United States. This in turn barred immigrants from Muslim nations for a period of ninety days so as to grant federal security agencies time to enact firmer vetting processes("Court Refuses to Reinstate Travel Ban, Dealing Trump Another Legal Loss," 2018). The judges recommended that the prohibition did not progress national security, saying that the administration had not shown any evidence suggesting that the seven Muslim nations had been engaged in terrorism in the United States. The decision also overruled Donald Trump’s statement that courts are incapable of reviewing a president’s national security valuations.

The inner workings of government institutions

From this article, political institutions were formed from the beginning by the negative thought that self-governance could use the tyranny of numbers or even permit a leader to achieve absolute power. This resulted to having substantial political resources to be in conflict with Donald Trump. The attorneys are spread out in courts in US country fighting for people’s equality and liberty (Adam Liptak, 2017). The executive office has the authority to apply constitutional law. If by any chance it is challenged in court, its chances of remaining in judicial scrutiny are very high especially when the policy was due to strict legal vetting processes by lawyers in all executive agencies. Policy changes must also not be should not be broadcasted without consulting significant experts and agencies. Appropriate internal executive legal process necessitates that the Department of Justice, White House and other executive agencies grants its lawyers the chance to review carefully the legality of policies likely to be read by the President.

                                              United States political culture

In this article it is essential to note that the representative of the United States is a political culture. The US has been slipping into personality driven politics on matters of ideas for many years. Trump’s obsession proves many people who thought the emphasis on the individual in politics had reached its pinnacle wrong. This is shown when many moderates and democrats were satisfied by only President Obama’s image making it look like they were worshipping him. President Trump uses social media, most especially twitter, to insert into phases of living in the US. Politics at its core has a lot to do with name recognition, and President Trump has taken that to a new level (Wesley Leckrone, 2013). President Trump used his obsession and personal wealth to get the democrats to take their eyes off the ball in a legislative manner. The focus on Trump also allows him take control of the narrative. When Trump presents a comprehensible message and creates a logical case for a policy, it in turn gains attention in a way that other politicians could dream to achieve. Trump dominates US politics and culture, his detractors and supporters cannot stop feeding into it.

Impacts of the travel ban to the community

The people affected by the travel ban are mostly scientists; some of them spoke out on how the order was going to affect the scientific community and their work. Scientists not in United States cancelled plans to attend the country’s conferences. Immediately the order was approved United States permanent residents (with green cars) and dual citizens were not permitted to board flights to the United States and thereafter detained on arrival. Individuals with visas not physically cancelled may travel if they have a valid visa. People with dual citizenships were affected too ("Court Refuses to Reinstate Travel Ban, Dealing Trump Another Legal Loss," 2018). Citizens from a banned country could enter as long as they present a valid passport from a country not banned. Refugees all over were affected as its program was suspended indefinitely. This order therefore suspended refugee entries for about 120 days. Only the refugees considered “in transit” was allowed entry. The Green card holders had legal residency in the US therefore the order did not affect their entry into US. Special Immigrant visas holders were affected due to the fact that Iraqi translators working with United States troops were to be given waivers. Lastly, those who needed visa renewal were affected as the ban also suspended the waiver of visa interviews program at US consulates and embassies therefore necessitating interviews for visa applicants globally.
