1) IN YOUR OWN WORDS, what is cultural competence? (at least 50 words)
Cultural competence is the ability to interact effectively with people of different cultures. It is considered as means of strategic prevention framework. Cultural competence, therefore, is the respect of other people’s beliefs, health, and practices as fundamental human rights. The competence calls for one to be able to effectively correlate with others in a harmonious way that does not bring about any confrontations.
2) How is cultural competence advantageous in the workplace? (at least 50 words)
Cultural competence in the workplace is known for the creation of the morale amongst the workforce. The good management of cultural competence and the cultural diversity creates training for the workers to become competent. The cultural competence also brings forth cultural diversifications and the cultural diversity in the cultural fronts. The community relation through cultural competence also brings about better interpersonal understanding.
3) What two or three strategies can you use to develop cultural competence? (at least 50 words)
The first strategy to develop the cultural competence is by knowing and getting an in-depth of your own culture and beliefs. Such understanding provides one with the advantage to know their beliefs and how they impact on a person’s beliefs and actions.
The second strategy of developing cultural competence is by getting to get details of the community where one works and lives. This may help them to gain skills on how to relate with others peacefully.
4) What strategies can you use to become more at ease with differences and diversity? (at least 50 words)
Improving on one’s communication skills play a huge part in dealing with the different cultural diversities. A proper culture competence makes it better to avoid cases of ambiguities and misunderstandings.
Clarity and misunderstanding can use for chaos. To live in harmony with people, it is best to clarify that which is misunderstood by many as a way of dispelling and chaos that may arise.
5) What does your ideal workplace look like? How would you like to be treated? How should you treat others? (at least 50 words)
An ideal workplace is centered on the principle of teamwork and harmonious relationship. When people work together, there is better result realization and better understandings of each other.
I would expect to be treated with respect and tolerance. I expect to be given chance and pardoning whenever I go wrong.
In an ideal workplace, I am expected to treat others with decorum and respect. I should be able to show leadership in line with cultural competence principles.
