A Letter to the future

I'm writing to you in the year 2017 in the year 2117, "Dear Daughter of the World."I want you to understand how far women have advanced.I admire the work of some courageous, powerful, and influential women because of them, you will be able to vote, study, and even attend college if you so choose, and you will live in a society where women can hold positions of leadership and govern the nation.

American women had to battle in the early years, before the Civil War. The world was undermining women's power because women's desires had not been fulfilled. For over a hundred years women fought for their rights through giving speeches, marched in rallies and signed petition after petition in trying to gain women suffrage. They believed that what they really want was same civil duty and responsibility of citizenship as men(Springer,2002).

I am really grateful for feminists like Lucy Stone and Alice Paul and other millions of women who exercised their right to vote back in the year 1920 and fought for equality when there was a lot of injustice experience by many women.

In 20th-century women, the movement gained support when the problem on inequality discrimination limited opportunity to the women continued to affect most women in their life. Women liberation appeared in print in 1966.This year marked a history where many women joined the institute of higher education. From then women have only looked forward.

Currently, at the dawn of the 21st-century women are experiencing their rights and are literally on the move. We believe the 21st century is a century of change for us women. This change has already begun, and we don’t have to look at the historical injustice done to us. We need to empower each other and need to look at ourselves as a perfect role model.

There has been a lot of progress from the first to the third wave of feminism. The first wave of feminism took place in late 19th and early 20th century. Its goal was to open opportunity for women with ambition. The second wave began in 1960-1990s, and its main goal was to fight for civil right and the right of the minority.

The third wave of feminism began after the second wave of feminism. It entailed many women from different parts of the world, and it focused more on the law, security process and individual identification. The third wave rose due to the realisation of women and allowed women to incorporate their own identities.

Women have really succeeded in the 1st and 2nd wave of feminism in getting the right to vote, right to work, right to their own body and right to education. In the 3rd wave, feminist felt the need to change in the stereotypes against women. Feminism gain root in the 3rd wave of feminism and also accomplished sex positivity.

Modern woman no longer wants equality since we already have it, what we want is superiority. I trust that women should know how to defend themselves against assault.I love and admire women who believe they can succeed in whatever they want as long as they work hard enough and women such as Carly Fiorina and Margret Thatcher have clearly proven it.

I would really want to know what women are experiencing in your world. Are they more superior and powerful? Do women exercise their right? How are women positioned now than in the 21st century? My hope is that women are in a better position in your world and appreciate the effort that was made by the first to third waves of feminism and there more powerful than before.

In the 21st century, we need to reduce regulation and bureaucracy to allow more and more women to enter into trade and become entrepreneurs thus enabling them to achieve their dreams and provide for themselves and their families. We need to protect religious freedom so that women can be able to live fulfilling religious life. We also need to localise our political power away from the state whether for health or education policy (Jurėnienė, 2007).

The feminist movement needs to be improved as before this is because the modern feminist movement has been hijacked in the name of progress. It does not boldly stand for best opportunity for women. I believe the modern woman deserve freedom of choice of their principles, priorities and politics. The feminist movement will have to return to its root if it wants to represent the women.

We still got a long way to go. However, I worry about what the future will hold for you as a woman. I need you to know you deserve the same right and opportunity as anyone else. I hope you grasp any opportunity and never feel ashamed or shy, never settle for second best and be brave enough and strong enough to fight anything you face.

Always you need to remember that if it is not all inclusive, it’s not feminism, fight for your right and know your privilege and be kind because the beauty of America is that woman can be whatever they want to be.
