There is a big difference between earliest reading memories among students as compared to the 21st literacy activities. Students during the early periods learned through various engagements. Gaming was the first activity that children used during this time. While at home and even at school, learners engaged in different games which were educative to them. Others learned through watching different TV sessions at their respective homes, and reading books. The current literacy activities according to the learners were good because they allowed them to employ the use of new technologies. These activities included face-booking, blogging, and messaging. The 21st students expected to use these methods because they helped them with ICT skills. For instance, massages helped the students with paraphrasing ideas, and on the other hand, face-booking improved blogging skills among the learners.
When comparing current activities and the literacy of the learners, it is evident that the students are more interested in embracing new technologies with the help of their teachers. Reading of books is also essential because it acts as a reference point of remembrance to the learners when need to. A good percentage of teachers use digital software. Hence, students also want to be engaged in these current activities to improve their learning skills. Therefore, the changing nature of literacy, I have a feeling that English education will be widespread to all students. This will eventually increase the number of graduates who can read, understand, analyze, evaluate, and solve any problem they come across effectively (Yore " Treagust, 2006).
