Teaching entails the provision of support and assistance to enhance adequate knowledge transfer to students. The interaction between teachers and students should ensure transfer of knowledge in a clear and concise manner. Teaching and Learning Cycle role as illustrated in the conversation involves four strategies as I have noted; Planning, assessment, evaluation, and teaching. A plan is critical to the teaching and learning cycle (Quinton " Smallbone, 2010). Proper and effective planning forms the foundation of learning objective, methodologies, concept and the whole understanding of the teaching process. With adequate preparation, there is a focus on understanding course cycle. After the plan, teaching forms the second facet of the learning cycle. This is where the course contents are delivered to students in a language they can better understand to meet their educational requirement. Teaching should meet the needs of all classes of students, those with individual attention, slow learners to fast learners(Tomlinson, 2014)
The assessment follows to gauge whether during the teaching process the students mastered the content of the course. In most cases exams are used as the assessing tools. Assessment measure what students know and learn in class (Jones, 2009). Finally, teachers can evaluate whether students were able to understand the concepts as required.
Great teaching means engagement between tutors and their students during the learning process. Mechanisms of teaching used should endeavor to help and add concepts and skills to students as it forms a foundation of their career. Tutors should not just lecture course works to meet their mandate only, but they should engage students, continuously assess and evaluate their progress as well as personally assist those lagging behind in their learning. In my views, that's what active learning should be.
